There is now a regular artist in residence at Michelham Priory, the 800-year-old property in East Sussex owned by Sussex Past.

Throughout 2015, following an exclusive agreement with Creative Coverage, there will also be an exciting programme of exhibitions, talks and workshops all delivered by professional artists and craftspeople. The first artist in residence, who will be starting work very soon, is Michael Richardson, a member of the Wapping Group of Artists, probably the oldest outdoor painting society in the UK, which numbers several of the most prominent British landscape and marine artists. He is also a member of the Chelsea Art Society, United Society of Artists and is a founder member of the Brass Monkeys Art Society. Michael has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters and The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries in London. “This opportunity really appeals to me not least because of the priory’s working windmill and forge,” says Michael. The first Creative Coverage Group Exhibition takes place this October featuring the work of: Ian Sidaway RI, Mark Weston, Susan Thomson, Georgina Gibbons, Penelope Timmis and Stuart Stanley. Ari Volanakis, property manager at Michelham Priory, says: “We are very excited about this and look forward to working with Creative Coverage and its talented artists and craftspeople. This is yet another great reason to visit Michelham Priory!” Creative Coverage has been featured in The Guardian newspaper's Small Business Showcase:
