"As long as we say you have to get papers to work in this country, it’ll work,” he said. “And nobody wants to say it. You know why? Because Republicans want the anti-immigrant vote and the Democrats want the pro-immigrant vote and the immigrant vote, but nobody wants a bill — a compromise. Somebody’s got to lead and say, ‘You know what? Game’s over. It’s time to get something done.’ “Why doesn’t the president say, instead of pandering to the Hispanic vote and liberals, why doesn’t he just say ‘You know what, I’m willing to strike a compromise. We need to get tough on illegal immigrants?’” Mr. Matthews continued. “The fact is, this president has the opportunity to put it together. But he needs to stop playing politics, stop running for office, stop playing the ethnic groups, and say, ‘Look, I’ve only got two years left. I have to get something done,’” he said. This has simply got to be a joke. The network that airs Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Toure, and - for God's sake - Al Sharpton, is warning the President to stop pandering to ethnic groups? Congratulations MSNBC, you've outdone yourself in the irony department.
