Just.... Wow.

A desperate Wendy Davis stages super-awkward presser featuring 'people she knows in wheelchairs.'

Maybe you know Texas uber-liberal Wendy Davis from her infamous 11-hour filibuster in support of late-term abortion. Perhaps you remember her pro-abortion allies screaming "hail Satan" at the state capital. Then again, it's possible that you're new to the political scene and you only know Ms. Davis from the ugly campaign ad she ran last week. In it, the failing gubernatorial candidate attacks her opponent, Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott, in the least sensitive way possible. The ad relies on the "empty suit" metaphor, depicting Abbott as an "empty wheelchair" and claiming that he's turned his back on disabled people.
This, obviously, rubbed a few people the wrong way. That probably has something to do with the fact that Abbott is a paraplegic who's been confined to a wheelchair for the last three decades. As Hotair pointed out, Davis has now wandered past "desperation" and into "guaranteed failure" territory:
The closest she’s been to Greg Abbott in any poll this year is eight points. The NYT/CBS poll two weeks ago had her down 14. Why not make the race a referendum on whether she cares more about the disabled than a man who’s been paraplegic for 30 years?

The ad was so instantly unpopular that even MSNBC couldn't find anyone who would go to bat for it. Now, despite facing a certain drubbing in November, Wendy Davis is running for cover as her campaign moves into damage control mode. Unfortunately for Texas Dems, her strategy is just as ill-conceived as the original ad. Like a racist who claims to "know some black people," Wendy Davis has staged a super-awkward presser - surrounded by all the people she knows who are in wheelchairs. It has produced the following picture, which takes the term "political prop" to new depths and will probably serve as the final nail in Davis' election night hopes. After Abbott ad, Wendy Davis is holding press conference right now with disabled people in wheelchairs So, there you have it, everyone. Wendy Davis is once again qualified to be the next Governor of Texas. She's a fan of abortion and her "wheelchair ad" is OK because she has a few supporters who happen to be in wheelchairs. How very proud Democrats must be.
