The Greed Factor

The government, with all of their regulations and pitfalls, makes us loop-hole seekers. Money is not evil. The love of money is. Money is a tool, and the bigger the tool, the more of the tool you have, the more you can take care of the things you need to. But, we must remember, money is simply a tool that is available for our use as we see fit.
It is possible to place the tool of money above all else, even God. That is why the Bible says it is easier to thread a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into Heaven. The Bible verse is not an attack on wealth, but an observation of the reality of our human nature. Our human nature is greedy. The love of money, placing our wealth above God, and then taking all of the credit for it, is simply a part of who we are as humans. The potential for evil in regards to money is present, but to eliminate it altogether would then create a situation where there is no incentive in life, no opportunity for self-improvement. A restaurant owner, and good friend of mine, called me this morning to tell me about his run-in with the local electricity company. Though not an emanation of the government, the bureaucracy style of management at So Cal Edison is quite similar to the massive bureaucracy that motors government agencies. The conversation he had over the phone was over a $12 charge that was an error on the part of the electrical provider. The woman on the phone with my buddy stated that Edison made no mistake. How did she know? The computer says so. To appease the business owner, she made the statement that the problem was "not the fault of Edison, or yours." "If it's not my fault, then why do I have to pay the $12?" he replied. "Because our records show you owe it."

Government is a parasite

He went through the entire story, pointing out the errors of Edison, and how the additional charge was not incurred based on his own actions. . . or at least it shouldn't have been. It reminded me of my trip to DMV, where they demanded that I fix my truck for a non-pollutant computer code turning on my check engine light, in relation to my transmission, which works perfectly and does not need to be repaired. But, in order to register my truck, I was required to fix a transmission that does not need repair - because that is the way the law is written. After a lot of creating maneuvering, and jumping through a few loopholes, we got it taken care of. "You know why these people are democrats?" he asked me on the phone. "Because there is no greed factor." I echoed his comment. "Yep. Government, and bureaucrats at government blessed monopolies like the electric company, have no incentive. There's no profit, and no competition. Government doesn't create anything, and there is no motive for profit. They are like the socialist wealthy, simply seeking more ways to take more money from us." Government is a parasite.

Capitalist Wealthy vs. Socialist Wealthy: Capitalist Wealthy have become rich chasing their dreams, Socialist Wealthy take wealth

There are two kinds of wealthy. Capitalist Wealthy, and Socialist Wealthy. Capitalist Wealthy have become rich chasing their dreams, making a better life for themselves, seeking profit. Socialist Wealthy take wealth, like Congress-critter Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid. But when the Capitalist Wealthy are all sucked dry, where will the Socialist Wealthy gain their riches from then? Greed. We have been taught that Greed is a bad word. A profane trait. But let's not jump the gun, just yet. Greed is simply an incentive, a desire for more wealth. Without it, our system collapses. Greed is a natural tendency of humans, so the Founding Fathers figured out a way to utilize it in a positive manner, using a free market as the foundation of our economic system. We have prospered as a nation, tapping into the incentive for more wealth. Wealth is created, and so the pool can never run dry as long as the source keeps bubbling with new profit by new businesses seeking new innovative ways to pursue their desire for wealth. But if the well is deprived of its source, and the Socialist Wealthy continue to take from the well, eventually it will run dry. Individualism, choice, a free market, self-reliance, and personal responsibility are all a part of the equation - traits those that believe in big government are trying to smother. Without the greed factor, we have pure and unadulterated liberal left progressivism. . . and that kind of thinking is a civilization killer.
