Yeah, this one's all played out...

NY Dem candidate mentions 'war on women,' everyone starts laughing at her

Remember, way back in 2008, when John McCain and Sarah Palin would call themselves "mavericks?" At first you thought, 'ok, cute line.' Then they kept saying it. In fact, they kept saying it over, and over, and over again. Then you remembered that you couldn't stand John McCain in the first place, and every time they said the "M-word" you'd just roll your eyes and pray for silence.

Well, the Democrats have their own version of this phenomenon. It's called the "War on Women," and we've talked quite a bit about how the Dems have beaten this particular horse to a pulp. The polls show it, Debbie Wasserman Schultz's standing within her own party shows it and, heck, plain old common sense shows it. Progressives have been shouting about the fictional "War on Women" non-stop since 2010 and it's just not working anymore. In fact, it's become a laughable - embarrassing - claim to make. Check out this clip from a recent debate between candidates for New York’s 23rd congressional district. Each candidate was allowed to ask their opponent one question. Republican Congressman Tom Reed asked his challenger, Martha Robertson, about a legitimate local issue. Robertson decided she's play 'gotcha' and accused Reed of being part of the "War against Women." It did not go over well.... Amazing. The Dems have taken a fairly potent - though pandering and meaningless - battle cry and reduced it to a laugh line. The accusation that once had Republicans quaking has been thoroughly exposed as rhetorical nonsense yet, since liberals have no record on which to run, they keep using it. Please, Dems. Every time you bring this up, you sound like utter fools. Keep doing it.
