Terrified, soon-to-be-deposed Senate tyrant: GOP majority would impeach Obama

Harry Reid will say or do anything to maintain power, of course, and if you look at life as he does you can understand why. His entire mission is to a) protect Barack Obama from any type of accountability whatsoever; and b) make sure no reasonable piece of legislation is ever given consideration in the United States Senate. This is the type of agenda that one obviously cannot defend by being honest about it. And what makes Reid's position so precarious is that he really faces and all-or-nothing proposition: Today he rules the Senate with an iron fist. Tomorrow he may find himself cast out to wail and gnash his teeth, with no power at all remaining in his dingy little hands.
So when you're that desperate, you'll say anything. Come to think of it, Reid will say anything even when he's not desperate. He's that shameless. But at the moment, desperation oozes from his petulant presence as he sends out fundraising e-mails making claims like this:
Republicans may go beyond shutting down the government. They may waste months of our lives on impeachment.
Oh no! Months of our lives!

There are actually a lot of lies in those two little sentences. Let's break them down, starting with the most obvious. Republicans have no intention of pursuing impeachment, not that they couldn't make a case for it, but there are a lot of reasons it's not on the agenda. You're obviously not going to get a two-thirds vote in the Senate to remove Obama from office, so Republicans certainly understand the whole thing would be an exercise in futility. And while I do think it would be useful for the nation to see the evidence of how Obama has abused his power, there are more important things Republicans can do with majority control and they know it. Reid also knows that the GOP is not going to impeach Obama. When he tells this lie, he's telling it to his own supporters in an attempt to extort money from them. Democrats, do you realize that this guy is doing this to you? Now about this shutting-down-the-government nonsense. Do you know why that's not going to happen with Harry Reid out of power? Because Harry Reid is out of power. He is the only reason we ever went there in the first place. With Reid in control of the Senate, the Republican House couldn't get any consideration of reasonable measures to limit spending, or even of passing a real budget. His proposition was basically: Do it my way or else. If Republicans refused, Reid would simply allow the government's statutory spending authority to expire and then blame the Republicans - with the help of an all-too-cooperative media - for the shutdown. With Reid no longer in control of the Senate, House and Senate Republicans can work out real budgets and present them to Obama for his signature. If Obama refuses to sign the budget bill, that's on him, but the Republican priority has always been to pass a reasonable budget, not to shut down the government. Finally, let's deal with this business about "wasting months of our lives". Know what? No matter what happens on Capitol Hill, I'm not wasting months of my life. I'm running this site, hosting my radio show, bringing you content on The Herman Cain Channel, doing speaking engagements and spending time with my family. My life doesn't revolve around what Congress does and I doubt yours does either. If Harry Reid wants to waste months of his life, fine with me. It's better than using his time the way he's been doing for the past eight years. Tomorrow, the voters of this nation can end his reign of terror. And if I were a Democrat - well, I would stop being a Democrat - but I would advise them to stop sending money to a guy who blatantly lies to them the way Reid is doing here.
