John McCain to run for President: The downside of the big win?

Feeling emboldened by Tuesday, your favorite 'Maverick' decides to run again

Sigh.... It goes like this: If the Republicans had failed to take the Senate on Tuesday, McCain would probably have retired. He simply wouldn't have wanted to hang around as an elderly-and-powerless minority member. Now, it looks like he's changed his mind.

We're all excited about the GOP's big win, but this is clearly the sand in the Vaseline. According to various sources, John McCain has already decided to grab yet another term in the U.S. Senate. At the moment, as AZ Central reports, he's currently only admitting that he's "leaning" towards a run, but we all know what that means. The chance to join the majority for one last hurrah looks it's simply too much to resist:
"We were talking to our longtime supporters -- many of whom have been with us for many years and we're grateful for their support -- about the options, and what we see as the future of the party in Washington and here in Arizona," McCain said. "We're getting a lot of their input as to whether I should run for re-election or not. They know that I am seriously considering it, and leaning towards it. "McCain would be 80 at the time of the 2016 election. He said he got no discouraging feedback, but added, "I tried to point out to them that we have to expect a very difficult campaign and hope that it's easy. But you always have to plan for a very, very tough campaign with good competition."
Wait, he received no negative feedback? Seriously? Are we really supposed to believe that there is no one who's made this guy aware of a whole nation - not to mention his own state - filled to overflowing with negative feedback regarding a McCain run?
