ObamaCare architect: Law was purposely convoluted and 'relied on stupidity of the American voter'

According to one of ObamaCare's top architects, the law was written to be a tortured, convoluted, mess - on purpose. According to the MIT economist who helped shape the President's signature legislation, "transparency" would have doomed the law. As he says, they were counting on the "stupidity of the American" voter. Without it, he claims, the ACA would never have been passed.
As The Daily Signal reported:
The conservative group American Commitment posted Jonathan Gruber's remarks, reportedly from an Oct. 17, 2013, event, on YouTube. "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage," says the MIT economist who helped write Obamacare. "And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass."

But wait, there's more! Gruber also brags about how the bill was written to slip past the CBO watchdogs.
"This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scores the mandate as taxes, the bill dies."
Here's the clip: You may recall Johnathan Gruber as the man who famously announced - in a different video shot in 2012 - that Obamacare specifically disallows subsidies for people who sign up on federal exchanges. This was done to try and force states to set up their own exchanges because, without subsidies, insurance rate would skyrocket. Unfortunately for the Administration, the states called their bluff. Only 16 states have established state-run exchanges, so now the administration is trying to claim that Gruber misspoke and the law has been misinterpreted. This represents the crux of the impending Supreme Court case, and Gruber's self-destructive remarks are sure to be among the evidence. What's really striking about Gruber is how gleefully he seems to describe the administration's strategy. Whenever he opens his mouth, not only does he do massive damage to the law he so desired but he appears almost overcome with joy at having perpetrated such a scam. The bottom line here? This administration knows damn well that - had it been honest about the impact of this law - it would never have passed. So, they obfuscated, lied, and buried the truth under an insanely complex law. ...Because what you want doesn't matter to them in the least. Here's Gruber's previous clip. The pertinent stuff is about 30 minutes in.
