Pipeline, no! Amnesty, Si!

ABC News: Obama doubles down on two of his most-despised policies

Last week, the Democrats took a historic beating. They're blaming a whole herd of scapegoats for it but, in the end, their excuses are all hollow. They lost because the voters decided that they were sick of Obama's left-wing policies, and they want the GOP to chart the nation's course. End of story.
Given the dissatisfaction with the administration, some would have you believe that Obama is going to pull a Bill Clinton and shift towards the political center. Hear this clearly: Obama is not going to do what Clinton did; he loves his radical agenda like gambling addicts love blackjack, and he'll stick with it even if it costs his party everything. According to ABC News, he's ready to double down on two of his most-reviled polices: Blocking the Keystone pipeline, and Amnesty for illegals. He signaled his intentions today in Myanmar. Speaking to reporters alongside famous opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, President Obama was adamant that, despite mounting GOP objections, he will move forward and take executive action to reform the immigration system by the end of the year because reforms are “way overdue.”

“I gave the House over a year to go ahead and at least give a vote to the Senate bill. They failed to do so and I indicated to Speaker Boehner several months ago that if, in fact, Congress failed to act, I would use all the lawful authority that I possess to try to make the system work better, and that's going to happen,” he said. In other words, "expect my unilateral amnesty plan soon." Previously the White House issued an ultimatum giving John Boehner until the end of the year to get "something" done on immigration. In the last few days, we've been hearing that the ultimatum may be off the table and Obama will announce his intentions next week. Personally, if I were him, I'd do it right around Thanksgiving so I could bury the bad news in Turkey, stuffing, and Black Friday madness. Regarding the Pipeline.... Asked about pending legislation to approve the Keystone XL pipeline, the president said his position on the issue has not changed and that the ongoing evaluation should be allowed to continue. In some of his strongest language yet, Obama pushed back against the Republican argument that the pipeline is a “massive jobs bill for the United States.” “Understand what this project is: It is providing the ability of Canada to pump their oil, send it through our land, down to the Gulf, where it will be sold everywhere else. It doesn't have an impact on US gas prices,” he said, growing visibly frustrated. Of course, this flies directly in the face of supply and demand. More supply absolutely will impact prices. He does make a - somewhat - valid point that a drop in gasoline prices will lag behind falling oil prices, but that's due largely to gas taxes and the Democrat-led aversion to building refineries. As for his argument that building the pipeline won't create jobs.... Well, if "not creating jobs" is a reason not to do something, I'd suggest we never elect another member of the Democrat Party - since doing so has given us the lowest labor participation rate in 36 years. At the end of the day, this is who Obama is. He's married to his agenda, and whatever he can do to make day-to-day life tougher for the country, he will do. Anyone who argues otherwise is either a true-believer, or they're selling something.
