Honest elections

Those of you who think either party has a lock on "big money" should do some research. Money fuels all elections. Is that disgusting and wrong? It certainly is. So let's work together to reform the election process rather than alleging that it is a single party problem.

Implying that Republicans overburden the poor and middle class for the benefit of the wealthy is another disingenuous notion. The poor are getting poorer and the middle class is sinking into poverty everyday. The reasons are far too many for a 250-word piece, but rest assured, there is plenty of blame to go around. Those of you who call voter ID, voter suppression should take a step back. This is not the 1950s. We are able to move about, obtain government services, be protected by civil rights laws and to exercise our freedoms. If there are areas where there is concern about accessibility to the polls, there are groups ready, willing and able to help out. Honest elections are the basis for everything else. I am quite sure we can give everyone an opportunity to vote and still prevent voter fraud. And, finally, those who have been elected (regardless of whether or not you like the process) are here. We must deal with that reality and do everything we can do to encourage and support unity and creative problem solving while we champion our ideals. Get involved, get educated, speak out, we should be part of the process, not onlookers and pawns. Lois Virgo
