"Today’s failure of the U.S. Senate to authorize the Keystone XL pipeline is a vote against all construction workers, a vote to keep good, middle-class jobs locked out of reach and a vote to continue to rely on nations that hate America for our energy. ...41 Senate Democrats cowardly stepped in line, throwing one of their own colleagues, Sen. Mary Landrieu, along with hard-working blue-collar construction workers, under the bus."O'Sullivan also accused President Obama of "politicizing" the pipeline, which led to the "cowardly" actions in Congress. It's all well and good, but unions are slavishly loyal to the Democrat party. It's rare that they step out of line. So what happens now? O'Sullivan promises that the Democrats will feel the repercussions of their decision in 2016. As the Daily Caller reports:
“For every action, there’s a reaction, and our members’ reaction will be felt in the next election." O’Sullivan went on to say the Democrats who voted against the pipeline, “took food off the table of our members, and we don’t take that lightly.” He then vowed “to assess from top to bottom who we give to, what we give.” “Every president has to speak for their own membership,” O’Sullivan added. “Our membership is repulsed and disgusted.”Congratulations, Unions. You're learning a valuable lesson about Democrats. They don't care about you. Oh sure, they're glad that they can count on you not to think before pulling the lever marked "D," but your goals - and the livelihood of your members - are of no interest to them. Frankly, they're right to feel that way. Unions have proven time and time again that Democrats can take them for granted. As long as their goals were more or less similar, organized labor was happy to let Dems slide on the fact that their administrations rarely failed to damage the economy. Unions spent decades funneling money into the party in exchange for a seat at the table and a plate full of empty promises. As a result, they rendered their own wants and desires meaningless. They've became a loyal voting bloc, nothing more. Now that their goals don't align with the Democrats, they're learning a harsh lesson: unions (and the corporations that employ their workers) will not be exempt from the Democrats' destructive, far-left, ideology.
