HHS: Please don't make our officials sit next to Gruber during his House Oversight testimony

Tomorrow, ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber person no Democrat has ever heard of, Jonathan Gruber, will testify about ACA transparency before the House Oversight panel. That means he'll get the chance to explain the "stupidity of the American voter" to Darrell Issa. As you can imagine, Republicans are looking forward to hearing from the one man involved with ObamaCare who will actually admit that the administration relied on lies, tricks, and scam-artistry to pass the President's "signature achievement."

Sadly, not everyone is excited about Gruber's day in the sun. At least one witness from The Department of Health and Human services is not thrilled that they may be seen in public with the poster child for Democrat hubris. Despite the fact that HHS paid Gruber over $400K for his advice, his intellect, and his expertise, the organization is asking that its employee not be seated anywhere near him. As the Hill reports:
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is asking lawmakers not to seat ObamaCare consultant Jonathan Gruber next to Medicare's top official when the two testify on Capitol Hill next week.

HHS Assistant Secretary for Legislation Jim Esquea wrote to the House Oversight Committee with the request, stating that government witnesses are "almost always afforded an opportunity" to sit alone or with other federal officials.
"The accommodation of separate panels for government witnesses reflects important comity in congressional-executive relations," Esquea wrote. "The relatively few exceptions to this practice reinforce the seriousness of this accommodation."
In other words, "This Gruber guy is so unbelievably toxic that if someone sees one of our people with him on TV, it would make us look like the charlatans that you already know we are." Poor Mr. Gruber. He's going to have to eat lunch all alone because the cool kids don't like him anymore. ....Or will he?
"The request is currently before Chairman Issa but at past hearings, government officials have testified alongside other non-administration witnesses," said Becca Watkins, a spokeswoman for the committee.
Uh-oh. It sounds like principal Issa may have other ideas.
