“ST. LOUIS — An off-duty police officer remained in critical condition Saturday after he was shot several times while driving his car in the Hyde Park neighborhood. “Police said they have not been able to get information about the shooting from the man because of his condition. “St. Louis police Capt. Michael Sack told reporters that the officer was driving north on Bremen Avenue, near North 25th Street, at 3:55 p.m. Friday when he was shot from a car parallel with his. “We don’t know what transpired, but the occupant or occupants of the other vehicle opened fire,” Sack said. “The officer was struck multiple times in the lower extremities, Sack said. It wasn’t clear whether the officer returned fire. After driving a short distance, the officer came across an individual who drove him to the hospital. “The officer’s vehicle was hit by bullets and was towed to the department’s crime lab for further investigation. “Police haven’t released the name of the officer but say he is 28 years old and has been with the department about four years.”
“One 30-year-old local who gave his first name only as Carlos, didn’t hear the fatal gunfire but saw the hysteria afterwards and walked to the police tape. (Daily Beast, Dec.21, 2014) “A lot of people were clapping and laughing,” he said. “Some were saying, ‘They deserved it,’ and another was shouting at the cops, ‘Serves them right because you mistreat people!’” he said.Hideous hyenas who laugh at the death of innocents whose job it is to serve and protect them have lost all touch with humanity. Ironic that Officers Ramos and Liu were men from minority communities, who happened to wear the police badge. But laughter and clapping over the death of these two officers was wiped out by what was yesterday’s defining moment, a defining moment destined to haunt Mayor Bill de Blasio for the rest of his days. As commenter Lori Boxer posits in the Canada Free Press Comment Section today:
“Obama, Holder and de Blasio "built' this. This didn't come as a surprise ... it just came a little sooner that I expected. I was heartened to see, however, and applauded in my living room as I watched, that when de Blasio arrived on-scene at the hospital, he had to walk through a 'big blue line' of NYPD cops, all in blue, and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM turned their backs on him (literally) so they faced away from him as he walked through the line.”The forced laughter of the malcontents could never trump the sorrow, love and respect millions feel for Officers Ramos and Liu.
