For hostages caught in the middle between lax local government and looming grievance, security-as-activism makes more sense than terms dictated by antagonists who don’t give us--of any color-- a second thought.

Security-As-Activism

I’ve always seen providing ( often free, LOL) security as a form of activism. Recent riots, violent protests and daily crime only reinforce this long held conclusion. The gentlemen in the above picture stood armed guard over a store in Ferguson, MO during the first wave of Michael Brown-inspired mayhem! Here’s some video:

Members of the Oath Keepers group went to besieged Ferguson and protected stores which otherwise would have been destroyed! Looking ahead to 2015, it seems security-as-activism may experience significant growth as limp wristed leadership allow criminals masquerading as protesters to disrupt business operations and even assault cops as a perverse civil rights expression. As every new officer-involved shooting carries within it the spark of mob rage, hostages in affected areas need to reevaluate not actively opposing those using headlines to make life miserable, especially in the 'Hood where safety and misery indexes are already low. I strongly recommend upgrading conventional concepts like Neighborhood Watch to doing your own post-George Zimmerman era street patrol, to better ” own your safety, ” as I call it. While not all of this current brand of anti-police brutality protester are threats to public safety, it’s obvious thugs, gang members and violent anarchists are using these occasions to wreak havoc for which they’d otherwise be immediately arrested! For hostages caught in the middle between lax local government and looming grievance, security-as-activism makes more sense than terms dictated by antagonists who don’t give us--of any color-- a second thought.
