...While the New York Daily News proves his point.

Bill Maher rips into liberals who are trying to ignore the realities of Islam.

As always, we begin a Bill Maher post by reminding you that he's an awful person who's wrong about almost everything. That "almost" is required, because he's been shockingly coherent when it comes to the realities of the Islamic world. Where most liberals are eager to apologize, appease, and equivocate, Maher has been outspoken about his frustration regarding the left's desperate desire to overlook Islam's propensity for violent fascism.

Last night, he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. There, he delivered a blistering attack on so-called liberals who turn a blind eye to the omnipresent horrors on display in Sharia countries. Yes, Maher's a devout atheist so he trotted out the standard "all religions are stupid" line, but the rest of what he says here is dead-on. As if desperate to prove his point, The New York Daily News ran the following image of slain Charlie Hebdo editor Stéphane Charbonnier holding one of his papers. As David Burge points out, they blurred the picture of Mohammed, but they were perfectly happy to run the caricature of a stereotypical Hassidic Jew: Obviously, there's only one reason to do this, and it's exacly what Maher's talking about. All over the mainstream media - from the Associated Press, to CNN, to Fox News and MSNBC, the same kind of cowardice is on display. Papers and news channels had no problem showing the infamous "Piss Christ" created by Andres Serrano. They also had no qualms about showing an "art" installation which featured a Virgin Mary covered in elephant feces. Heck, just last year NBC ran a violent, bloody, comedy sketch on Saturday Night Live featuring a revenge-fueled resurrected Jesus lopping off people's heads with a samurai sword. Yet, they can't bring themselves to show the minimal courage it takes to run this simple photo? I'd call them cowards, but it seems like such a puny word to ascribe to the media and leftist sheep who refuse to acknowledge the truth of the world they occupy.
