A British gallery was one of the first galleries to exhibit at the Affordable Art Fair (AAF) in Battersea, London when it launched 16 years ago.

Every year since Bell Fine Art in Winchester, Hampshire, has exhibited its artists and it makes a return there from March 15 with paintings by Hampshire artist Mike Hall and a number of others from the UK and four from Europe. “AAFs are a great way of marketing our artists and introducing them to a new market,” says Lawson. “These are a considerable undertaking, both in time and cost though. This latest show will cost in excess of £10,000, with no guarantee of success. We don't charge artists to show with us, only commission on sales. There is always at least two staff on the stand. We transport half a dozen plinths and a desk along with around 60 paintings and a number of pieces of sculpture.” Bell Fine Art uses a courier company which picks up all the work and plinths and transports them to the stand. “I used to hire a van and do it myself but it just became too exhausting,” recalls Lawson. Lawson’s online gallery London Contemporary Art will also be exhibiting there. Mike Hall art Mike Hall art2 Mike Hall art3 Images: Mike Hall’s paintings
