Presenter Jim Naughtie said: “I’ve got a letter here that was sent out by OUP to an author doing something for young people. “Among the things prohibited in the text that was commissioned by OUP was the following: Pigs plus sausages, or anything else which could be perceived as pork. “Now, if a respectable publisher, tied to an academic institution, is saying you’ve got to write a book in which you cannot mention pigs because some people might be offended, it’s just ludicrous. It is just a joke.”Palmer also reported that an OUP spokesperson tried to spin his company out of the mess saying, “Our materials are sold in nearly 200 countries, and as such, and without compromising our commitment in any way, we encourage some authors of educational materials respectfully to consider cultural differences and sensitivities.” But there is no spinning the publisher out of the fact that it is bowing to radical Islamists and is now trying to force writers to become sharia compliant in everything they do. So much for the right of an artist to be true to his vision. So much for freedom of speech and freedom of the press! So much for our own western values. This is just another sad example of foolish westerners PCing themselves into aiding Muslims in destroying our own culture. No wonder the Islamists feel we are a weak, paper tiger. We haven’t given them any reason at all to curtail their murderous intent, on the contrary as a culture we’ve proved that all they have to do is persevere and they will win.
