The Time Has Come

“A government of the people, by the people and for the people”. Do you think that phrase still describes our government … or has it become something else? Has it become a government of an elite few?
Has it become a government of people who feel entitled to tell all of us how we should live our lives? Many of the people who are reading this are looking at where our government is going and use words such as communist, fascist, socialist, and Progressive. None of those words are accurate, because every one of them is just the WAY a government justifies and implements tyranny. The tyranny isn’t caused by socialism or communism, or fascism or Progressivism. It’s just dictatorship dressed up for a masquerade ball. Is this where our country is headed? Think about this: Every law, regulation, and policy for the past 75 years is based on the assumption that you aren’t competent. Every law is based on their belief that you need to be protected from your own stupidity. And every explanation we get for such an assumption from our current President also assumes that you and I are too stupid to realize that he is lying to us. Think about this: How often are government actions questioned, and the answer is “Well, it’s really too complicated to discuss.” Isn’t that a lot like saying “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it.”?

And this has been going on for decades under the administrations of BOTH parties. Just look at how easily politicians change party affiliation! Do you remember Arlen Spectre? Do you really think that he felt or thought any differently once he became Democrat than when he was a Republican? Now, I know that some of you here will say, “Hold on, Jim, there are some really good people in Congress.” Of course there are. After all, we have the best Congress money can buy and they prove that every single day. And just who are these “good people in Congress”? Are they those good Republicans who made efforts to “negotiate” with the Obama administration so we only lose a little of our freedom? And maybe a little more the next time? And who now “promise” us that everything will be just fine? Were they the ones who tried to “compromise” with Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid about just how much of our wealth that they got to “spread around”? Was their compromise based on the fact that they needed to get some pork, too? That way they’d be much more willing to cooperate in robbing us blind. Where are the “good people in Congress” who are willing to say that this isn’t about RIGHT and LEFT, it’s about RIGHT and WRONG? And it’s not all about Republicans. Both parties are betraying us. Think about how few from either party even read the so-called Stimulus Bill or the Cap and Trade Climate Bill or the Health Care Bill. But maybe you think these “good people in Congress” are in the Democratic Party. The “blue-dog” or “conservative” Democrats? Those who say that they’re fiscally responsible? The ones who claim that they’re protecting our freedoms? Except that it turns out that they need to cooperate with Pelosi, Reed and Obama to get re-elected? Or they need to cooperate or they’ll lose their share of the pork. If we don’t have a government that respects us, if we don’t have a government that tells us the truth, that isn’t even willing to listen to the truth, if the government we have doesn’t have one shred of common sense, then it’s high time we got ourselves a new government. No half measures, no negotiation, no accommodation, no compromises. A new government that respects us, and protects us, our families, our jobs, our rights and our freedom! One that listens first and foremost to what we say in the voting booth, and not what some special interest group says. We have some of the best and brightest people in the world right here. Look around you. I mean it, I’ll wait. Look at the people next to you in churches, or in front of you or behind you. Maybe the people that surround you at work or the people you know and see every single day. They are the future government of America. They are the ones who care enough to be reading this, but certainly don’t care what CNN, or MSNBC, or the New York Times has to say about them. Because, as I said before, it’s not a question of right and left, it’s about RIGHT and WRONG. Our government, as it stands right now, is seriously wrong. We need to send someone to Washington that “gets it”. The ideas that they need to stand for aren’t all that complicated. Politicians are in love with the word “mandate”. Well, the person that we elect next November and install in the White House should have a mandate. In fact, they should have several:
  • They should have a mandate to stop spending money that we don’t have.
  • They should have a mandate to stop trying to please everyone who might vote in the NEXT election and start worrying about the ones who voted in the LAST election.
  • They should have a mandate to stop using OUR money to fund make-work jobs programs.
  • They should have a mandate to freeze all government civilian hiring, and let attrition take its toll on government headcount.
  • They should have a mandate to eliminate cost-of-living wage increases for all government workers.
  • They should have a mandate to eliminate all cost-of-living adjustments to transfer payments.
  • They should have a mandate to protect our borders.
  • Ideally, the person we elect to go to Washington should feel more like he or she was being sentenced to prison rather than feel like they just WON the lottery.
Do you think we can find a person who is willing (and feisty enough to be able) to put up with all the garbage, lies and accusations that you know will be thrown at them when they start working to cut the government down to size? I think we can. I ran across something the other day seemed to really describe the people we need to send to Washington:
Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them. Disagree with them. Glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world … are always the ones who actually do!
And, finally, when you get fed up with being attacked by the main stream media and our wonderful elected officials, just remember these words of Mahatma Gandhi who spoke about such people: First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.
