LA Times: Williams will not be punished ...at all.

ANCHORMAN FIGHT! Tom Brokaw wants Brian Williams to be fired

Let's be honest. No one really expected NBC News to slap Brian Williams with any serious punishment over his credibility-destroying Iraq war lies. Given that NBC has no problem tolerating the abject insanity of people like Al Sharpton, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, and (for eight years) Keith Olbermann, Williams' "foggy memory" probably didn't even register. Even if they were interested in dealing with the problem, it'd be like trying to spot one particular flake in a snowstorm.

Now, we're getting our first confirmation - via the LA Times - that Williams will, in fact, face no consequences at all.
NBC News is standing by Brian Williams after the anchor's admission that he embellished his role in a military incident during the Iraq war. The network has not commented publicly, but an executive familiar with the matter says Williams will face no disciplinary action. His apology, delivered during the Wednesday edition of "NBC Nightly News," was accepted internally.
Unfortunately, that's not going to cut it for everyone. While fellow anchor (and fellow liar) Dan Rather has his back, another famous newsman is not happy at all. According to the Washington Post's Page Six, Tom Brokaw wants Williams defrocked and thrown out on his keister.
NBC’s most revered journalist is furious that Brian Williams is still in the anchor chair after he sheepishly admitted he hadn’t traveled on a helicopter hit by enemy fire. “Brokaw wants Williams’ head on a platter,” an NBC source said. “He is making a lot of noise at NBC that a lesser journalist or producer would have been immediately fired or suspended for a false report.”
Oh please, Mr. Brokaw. No, they wouldn't. Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but this is de rigueur for NBC News these days. Any "news" outfit that is happy to shovel the warm steaming piles of manure offered by NBC's lesser "journalists" has long abandoned any desire for integrity. Still.... It's always fun to see an anchorman fight!
