Obama: If a congressional vote says executive amnesty is illegal, 'I will veto that vote'

You really have to consider the audacity of this on multiple levels. For one thing, you don't need a congressional vote to establish the illegality of something that is already illegal. Obama knows perfectly well that executive amnesty was his decision to work outside the law because Congress wasn't on board with his agenda. It's one thing to complain that they won't do what you want. Every president has done that at some point. It's another thing entirely to decide that, because they wouldn't, you would.

But hey, once you've gone this far, why stop? Obama now presumes the authority to arbitrate his own disregard for the law. You have to see this to believe it: Elsewhere in the interview, Obama helpfully explains that rather than breaking the law he merely "expanded my authority". I bet you didn't know the president could unilaterally expand his own authority. Neither did I. Neither did anyone. That's because he can't. Unless, of course, he just does it anyway and Congress is so inept as a check on his power that they can't come up with a way to stop him. It's hard to believe this guy - not to mention Democrats in general - used to bellyache about George W. Bush grabbing too much power for the executive branch. Dang, that seems like a long time ago.
