Give Pizza Drivers A Safety Gift!

Greetings fellow hostages! I just received a pizza delivery and gave the driver a tip AND a free can of pepper spray- in honor of Michael Price, the recently slain Dominos driver here in New Orleans.
I advise fellow hostages to do the same. Since industry policy sends them unarmed into the lion's mouth, let's help them help themselves! Give pepper spray, stun guns or anything useful -minus firearms- for self-defense purposes, to these targeted workers -- along with a tip! America has spent billions on overseas stability operations while it's painfully clear how unstable our streets are in many urban centers. Where I grew up became a bleak locale not unlike the Lower 9th Ward and cases like this strike especially close to home. My old neighborhood back home was a forbidden zone where pizza wasn't delivered and cabs rarely visited. The consequences of allowing young thugs to dictate reality in your zip code is the prospect of commercial exclusion- along with premature death. The Lower Ninth Ward has an international reputation as a perilous place and no amount of protest to the contrary to overshadows a publically broadcast attrition rate. When residents become hostages and politicians dismiss them as collateral damage, tragedies like the Michael Price murder become inevitable.

Michael Price is as much a victim of mindless brutality as was Medgar Evers and the trio of slain voting rights activists, Schwerner, Chaney and Goodman were in their era. Like Medgar Evers, he leaves behind a wife and children who'll never see him again. While Michael Price wasn't engaged in civil rights activism, he was engaged in the equally noble pursuit of legally providing for his house hold. Nobody should die because he's out working to feed his family! That message needs to drown out any excuses or enablers who may arise as this case develops. Thugs and bureaucrats expect us not to help each other and to be good little hostages ignored-and killed-at will! Safety shouldn't be a proverbial roll of the dice for pizza delivery drivers- let's put the odds more in their favor! I think our pizza delivery drivers deserve at least that much from the public they literally risk everything to serve on a daily basis.
