Therefore, Lincoln foresaw that the question could no longer be sidestepped by " popular sovereignty", wherein each individual state's voting citizens would decide whether to allow or to prohibit slavery within its borders. In this speech, Lincoln continued further, to predict, that America would not remain " divided against itself "; that it " could not stand "........." it (America) will either become all one thing, or all the other ". He was essentially predicting two specifics:
America as a nation would either allow slavery in all of the states nationwide, or
- America would abolish slavery nationwide
Had the war gone the other way, America would be two separate nations.
In our America of 2015, many of us have studied the electoral maps of the Presidential Election of 1860 against the electoral maps of the Presidential elections of the early 21st century, and after 150 years, our nation is essentially divided along very similar lines to just prior to the Civil War. I believe that to a majority of Americans, both in 1860 and in present-time 2015, the slavery question was a moral issue, not just a political or economic issue. Present-day America is sharply divided, morally, politically, socially and economically, and this divide has been steadily widening for the past 25 years. If a student of history, government or sociology seriously studies our history since 1990, the divide began to accelerate after President Reagan left office.
Based upon the same moral, political, economic and social data and history since the early 1990s, it is this writer's position that geographically, America is divided. This geographic division is between the more left-wing, liberal and urban states of the Northeast, Industrial Midwest and the West Coast, and the more right-wing, conservative, less urban states of the Great Plains, Mountain States, and the South from Texas to the Carolinas and North to the Ohio River. Anyone who looks at the Electoral Map of 1860, weeks before the southern states began to secede, a very similar geographical divide existed.
Is America in 2015, poised on the brink of a similar fate? There is very substantial evidence to support such a contention. We are, most importantly, morally divided, similar to 1860. The issues most sharply dividing our nation into opposing " camps ", include:
- the right-to-life of the unborn vs. the right to infancide via abortion on demand;
- the rights of Christians to freedom of religion, speech and association, vs. the " rights " of athiests, homosexuals and their left-wing, depraved allies to gay marriage and the forced acceptance of their depravity by the whole of society, including Christians;
- conservatives who believe in individual liberty, freedom and states' rights vs. liberals who favor state-ism and big government controlling everyone's lives via destruction of the Bill of Rights;
- conservatives who favor private enterprise with minimal state interference, and liberals, who favor socialism, destruction of free enterprise, and the redistribution of wealth from those who earned it to those who did not.
Because of the Obama administration's callous disregard for traditional morality, the constant violation of the Constitution and our Bill of Rights, placing the security of Americans in " clear and present danger " with the Pro-Islamic foreign policy and Open-Borders domestic policies, as the well as deliberate destruction of prosperity and free enterprise economics, President Obama and his allies have clouded if not darkened, the futures of a majority of Americans. As Americans see a cloud of darkness befalling their futures and the future of America, the conservative majority increasingly believes everything we hold dear is at risk, and passivity is undergoing a metamorphosis into outrage and calls for drastic action. Is our citizenry becoming so outraged that reluctant acceptance of the staus quo is about to be replaced by a willingness to fight for our liberty and freedom that is being tyrannically stripped away by our Pro Marxist, Pro Islamist President and his evil administration?
Recently, more and more Americans, particularly the conservatives and Christians, realize that the " line in the sand " has been drawn, and the tyrannical government and its allies in Washington, D.C. is attempting to, paraphrasing Abraham Lincoln, " to force us to all become one thing "- a secular, ant-Christian, immoral, statist, multicultural, Marxist and Pro-Islamic/Anti-Israel culture. This rapidly encroaching Marxist, statist and tyrannical culture is complete anathema to at least half the population of America, and at last, the alarm bells are beginning to ring and sleeping conservatives at our moral grass roots are waking up to this hellish reality.

Chief Justice Roger Taney, in citing the 1857 Supreme Court decision, left the enslaved among with no place of refuge to which to escape. Abraham Lincoln and the Abolitionists, sought to remedy enslavement with liberation. The current leftist, statist tyranny of the Obama administration, the federal courts, and the compliant Congress, in their actions to defy our Constitution and their shredding of our Bill of Rights, has left patriotic, conservative Americans, including Christians, with no place of refuge. The First, Fourth,Tenth and other Amendments, granting most general governmental authority to the states and our people, have been overridden. Obama seeks the remedy of Lincoln and the Abolitionists in reverse. He intends to " remedy " our cherished liberties with a return to government sponsored re-enslavement.
Millions of Americans are deeply fearful of the potential consequences of a forthcoming. Supreme Court ruling that, more likely than not, will, as with Obamacare and infanticide by abortion, render sodomy to be the law of the land, as well. Should that ruling become reality this coming June, the next step on the gay activist agenda will be a ruthless nationwide vendetta to force their lifestyle down the throats of Christians, conservatives, libertarians, and anyone else who even so much as dares speak out publicly against their perversion and their agenda to destroy freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of association in America. If these freedoms are struck down this Summer at the Supreme Court, as happened with the Defense of Marriage Act, Obamacare, the right to life of the unborn child and the right of school and public prayer, absent " Good men and women doing something ", the Rule of Law, liberty and in America is finished - unless we fight back.

Much like Dred Scott in 1857, Conservative Americans in 2015 will have no place of refuge. The Dred Scott case precipitated the secession of eleven states and four years of Civil War. Today, in 2015, America is once again so deeply divided it has become " two Americas "; one America, seeking liberty and freedom, and a second America, seeking the forced enslavement of the first and former.
Of these two Americas, which America will prevail? Will we once again become one nation living in liberty and freedom? Will we descend into darkness and become, as Obama is striving to achieve,
one nation bound in the chains and slavery of Pro Islamist Fascism, with our Bill of Rights and Constitution destroyed? Or, will we divide into two separate nations, one conservative, with liberty and rule of law, and the other, ruled by an autocrat in welfare dependency, rampant immorality and dictatorship?
It is painfully obvious what the statist, anti-Christian, anti-freedom leftists have decided is their ruthless intent. What will conservative, libertarian, God-fearing Americans decide? In 1775, American patriot Patrick Henry boldly declared, " As for me, give me liberty, or give me death. ". If Americans do not choose at this critical moment in American history to fight for our liberties, then we are, for all practical purposes, already dead.

Anti-slavery abolitionists were outraged that a slave on free territory could now be forcibly removed by the law of the land, back to his or her owner in a slave state.
