Maybe that stupid red button worked after all.

Clintons got cash, Russians got one-fifth of all America's uranium . . . hey, what's the problem?

I'm getting behind. It's really a challenge keeping up with all the corruption now being exposed about the Clinton Foundation and the connection between the money the Clintons accepted and the decisions Bill Clinton's Wife was making at the State Department. So as she might say, this is "old news" insofar as it came out yesterday, but it's still fund watching her campaign trying to claim there's no evidence she did anything wrong.
In a nutshell: Uranium One is a Russian company controlled by the Russian government. It was looking to make a major acquisition that would give it control of one-fifth of all uranium production in the United States. That couldn't happen unless the U.S. State Department approved the deal. Well that would never happen, right? Ha ha! Jokes on you! When Bill Clinton's Wife is Secretary of State, there is always a way to make things happen, and as the New York Times (!) reports, the Russians had no trouble figuring out what it was:
Beyond mines in Kazakhstan that are among the most lucrative in the world, the sale gave the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States. Since uranium is considered a strategic asset, with implications for national security, the deal had to be approved by a committee composed of representatives from a number of United States government agencies. Among the agencies that eventually signed off was the State Department, then headed by Mr. Clinton’s wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton. As the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation. Uranium One’s chairman used his family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million. Those contributions were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. Other people with ties to the company made donations as well.

And shortly after the Russians announced their intention to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Mr. Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock. At the time, both Rosatom and the United States government made promises intended to ease concerns about ceding control of the company’s assets to the Russians. Those promises have been repeatedly broken, records show. The New York Times’s examination of the Uranium One deal is based on dozens of interviews, as well as a review of public records and securities filings in Canada, Russia and the United States. Some of the connections between Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation were unearthed by Peter Schweizer, a former fellow at the right-leaning Hoover Institution and author of the forthcoming book “Clinton Cash.” Mr. Schweizer provided a preview of material in the book to The Times, which scrutinized his information and built upon it with its own reporting. Whether the donations played any role in the approval of the uranium deal is unknown. But the episode underscores the special ethical challenges presented by the Clinton Foundation, headed by a former president who relied heavily on foreign cash to accumulate $250 million in assets even as his wife helped steer American foreign policy as secretary of state, presiding over decisions with the potential to benefit the foundation’s donors. In a statement, Brian Fallon, a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign, said no one “has ever produced a shred of evidence supporting the theory that Hillary Clinton ever took action as secretary of state to support the interests of donors to the Clinton Foundation.” He emphasized that multiple United States agencies, as well as the Canadian government, had signed off on the deal and that, in general, such matters were handled at a level below the secretary. “To suggest the State Department, under then-Secretary Clinton, exerted undue influence in the U.S. government’s review of the sale of Uranium One is utterly baseless,” he added. A key to all this is that the Clintons actually hid their receipt of the Russian cash from the Obama White House, in spite of having pledged to reveal all foreign donations. Of course, as we know from yesterday's item, they were hiding their foreign donations from the IRS too. If only someone could have had a look at Hillary's e-mail server . . . oh right, never mind, it's been wiped. As for the Bill Clinton's Wife Campaign claiming there is not a "shred of evidence" her decisions were influenced by the donations, that's like a politician accepting a bribe and then claiming it didn't matter because he would have given the briber what he wanted anyway. Let's review the trail: First you promise to reveal all your foreign donors to the White House, and then you don't. Then you violate your own rules by using a private e-mail server for all your government business, and say you'll make everything available to the government - but you don't. Then you accept $10 million in foreign donations, knowing perfectly well that you're supposed to report that to the IRS. But for three years running, you don't. So when you're making decisions that enrich the Russians and enrich yourself, despite the obvious concerns the decisions present concerning U.S. national security, your claim that no one can prove a connection represents some serious chutzpah on your part. But then again, remember who we're talking about here. The Clintons are the kind of people who will reach into your pocket and grab your wallet while you're watching them do it, and tell you that you're a jerk for suggesting they would do such a thing. Meanwhile, we continue to see the pattern of the mainstream media turning on Hillary. It's been absurd for years that they treated her as a serious candidate for the presidency, but for whatever reason, it's starting to look like they no longer want to do so - and they're finally making her answer for her corruption and incompetence. Well, they're trying to. She's not answering yet because she still thinks she can make all this go away by treating the questions as if they're ridiculous. No, what's ridiculous is the idea that she should be president. Is there anyone left out there who still hasn't realized that?
