Gowdy: I'll totally believe Hillary's email explanation ...if she offers it under oath

As you know, the Clintons are fine, upstanding, philanthropists who never lie - particularly not when they're under oath.

So, if you're investigating Hillary Clinton's use and deletion of a private email account and server, you know you can take her at her word. Perhaps that's why Trey Gowdy is signaling that he's completely willing to trust Hillary. ...If, that is, she testifies under oath. From USA Today:

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy, who heads the House committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks that left four Americans dead, says he might be willing to accept assurances under oath from Hillary Clinton that she has provided all her relevant emails to the panel — dropping requests for an independent examination of her computer server. "If she were, under some theory, able to say, 'yes, I can promise you under penalty of perjury you have every single document you're entitled to,' that would probably shut off that line of inquiry," he told Capital Download. "If she can, then it will be a short conversation."

This is a really nice move on Gowdy's part. If Hillary refuses to answer questions under oath, it will look like yet another case of a guilty Clinton trying to hide the facts. That's bad news for a struggling presidential candidate. On the other hand, if she testifies and it could be proven she was anything less than 100% truthful, it would potentially destroy her White House run. In short, Gowdy's got her between a rock and a hard place. Smart.
