Satiating encroaching socialism’s appetite is impossible

Wilt Thou Destroy The Righteous With The Wicked?

When Abraham attempted to persuade God to rethink His intentions toward Sodom, the wise old patriarch elevated deal making to a high art.
Knowing God would stand no more of Sodom’s rampant licentiousness, Abraham speculated that a few good folks resided in the doomed metropolis, and posed this question: “Wilt Thou destroy the righteous with the wicked?” He also reminded God that punishing righteous folks along with the unrighteous is “ … far from Thee.” Abe’s maneuvering gave God pause, for He responded, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous … I will spare it for their sakes.” Proving that boldness has genius, power and magic in it, Abraham offered several more proposals, wheedling God down to the possibility that ten sinless souls might inhabit Sodom. The Lord then went His way, perhaps feeling a bit out-dealt by the Hebrew patriarch. Even so, Abe’s efforts failed, for “…the Lord rained upon Sodom brimstone and fire” and destroyed it. Justice was served, but Abraham’s quintessential deal-making propensities weren’t diminished. If only Congress possessed Abraham’s astute abilities. Considering that the nation’s economy remains at the brink of collapse and that pragmatic prognosticators fear America is freefalling toward another great depression, standing in soup lines looms as a distinct possibility.

Nevertheless, Congress’ cowardly cronies, comfortable in cushy jobs amounting to nothing more than devising ways to rob working folks to pay non-working slobs (after pocketing their own fat juicy slices) limit their communication with those they are supposed to serve to begging for more money. Congress’ chicanery craftsmen dare not impede the president’s quasi-dictatorial, tax-and-spend power grab, and indeed are so fearful of him that if he ordered pink leotards be worn while traipsing the halls of Congress, they’d likely do so. The woes they are bequeathing to America’s future generations don’t faze Congress’ members. Young Americans who indebted themselves to earn educations will be shocked by the deductions from their paychecks, and will face the reality that satiating encroaching socialism’s appetite is impossible. Sadly, politicos on both sides of the aisle continue focusing less on the trees and more on the forest; they betray those who put them in office, ignore the future wellbeing of the country’s job-seeking youth, and sink to any level of political prostitution to be reelected. Courageously, Abraham stood up for his fellow man’s rights by negotiating with the universe’s one true God; un-courageously, America’s lickspittle legislators lie to get votes, and then ignore those to whom they lied. They pervert moral rectitude, and are as obedient to the administration as trained monkeys are to organ grinders. They serve the undeserving, ignore the exorbitant expense of paying women to become out-of-wedlock machines cranking out illegitimate babies for profit, allow the president to continue purging the military of officers who disagree with him, and … well, the list of congressional crimes is endless. The question for the members of Congress is the same one that Abraham asked the Creator of all: “Wilt Thou destroy the righteous with the wicked?”
