The real issue troubling Americans is not the Patriot Act. It is the distrust of the government handling and use of the information.

Regardless of whether the Act should or should be extended, government needs to understand that when information provided to the IRS is used to target certain groups and when the IRS can be hacked and private information stolen, there is little to instill confidence that the government can be trusted with our info. The argument is that the information would be used to arrest the "bad guys". Trouble is, you or I might be considered bad guys by some. Heck, it doesn't even work with people like Adam Lanza or the Ft. Hood shooter or James Holmes. Here's a tip for those in Washington DC, start treating the American people with the respect they deserve, listen to their concerns and adjust accordingly, represent their interests as stated by them, not what you want and then, maybe someday the damage done by your self serving interests will be fixed. It is up to you. Stewart Andersen
