John Kerry says Iran nuclear deal deadlines are pretty much meaningless

Tomorrow, negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal will run up against another deadline. Then the deadline will be ignored, talks will continue, and a new deadline will probably be set. Eventually, we'll hit that deadline, and we'll do the same dance all over again.

That's because John Kerry has just informed the world that these "deadlines" are pretty much meaningless. As the Free Beacon reports:
Secretary of State John Kerry informed reporters on Thursday that nuclear talks with Iran would continue past any deadline and only come to a conclusion when the Obama administration feels that no more “progress” is being made. Kerry’s announcement—which was vague about details or a future timeframe for the talks—appeared to annoy some reporters in the audience, with one shouting at Kerry, “How long is this going to take?” ...“Let me assure you we would not be here continuing to negotiate just for the sake of negotiating,” Kerry said. We’re here because we believe we’re making real progress.”
This, of course, begs the question. Why do we bother having deadlines in the first place? The point, it would seem, is to put pressure on the other side of the table. Reach a deal by "date X" or we walk. For whatever reason, our unending pursuit of a terrible deal with a Iran has negated that strategy.
“As I’ve said many times, and have discussed with President Obama last night, we are not going to sit at the negotiating table forever,” Kerry said. “We also recognize that we shouldn’t get up and leave because the clock strikes midnight.”
John Kerry, in a move that he should have learned to avoid during the first day of "negotiation 101," has just announced that we're perfectly happy to wheel and deal on our enemy's timetable. We'll keep listening to their blather as long as they can convince us that we're "making progress." That shouldn't be too hard considering our leaders are desperate to strike a deal - good or bad. Remember world: This administration has no interest in being decisive. As long as the press carries their water, they want to hear you talk and talk and talk. They have an undying tolerance for your delay tactics, your stalling, and your "death to America" chants. You're free to play for time and keep doing whatever you're doing behind the scenes. There's no deadline they won't ignore.
