The honorable Mrs. Clinton should welcome it!

Hillary facing possible criminal investigation over 'hundreds' of emails containing classified material

Uh-oh. Watch out, Clinton faithful. There's fresh trouble in Hillary-land. According to the New York Times and NBC News, Mrs. Clinton is sailing into choppy legal seas. Two inspector generals, from two different federal agencies, are demanding that the DOJ undertake a criminal investigation into what they say are "potentially hundreds" of classified emails Clinton sent from her private email server.
As NBC reports:
Two inspectors general have requested the Justice Department begin a criminal probe into whether Hillary Clinton improperly stored classified emails on her private personal server, a source familiar with the issue told NBC News. The request, first reported by the New York Times, was made by inspectors general for the State Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence combing through Clinton's private emails. They made the request after finding potentially hundreds of classified emails among a small sample of some 55,000 pages of emails contained on Clinton's private email server, which was located inside her New York home.

For her part, Hillary is still claiming she did nothing wrong. She argues that she has followed the law and has endeavored to be 100% transparent when dealing with questions about her secret, now completely wiped, email server.
"I fully complied with every rule I was governed by," she told reporters during a news conference in March after her use of a private email account was disclosed. "I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email. There is no classified material."
Clinton's campaign spokesman has issued a statement saying that while there was some classified material in Hillary's emails, it was deemed classified after it was sent, so his candidate's honor remains above reproach.
"As has been reported on multiple occasions, any released emails deemed classified by the administration have been done so after the fact, and not at the time they were transmitted."
The question now is whether the DOJ will actually honor the inspector generals' requests. The answer is "almost certainly no." One assumes that the 'house Holder built' will stonewall any such effort. However, it's possible - just barely - that the Dems have had enough of their shaky-but-inevitable 2016 frontrunner. If that's the case, and the party feels it has a viable alternative, there's a slim chance that the administration might torpedo its old rival by allowing the investigation to go forward. The bottom line on this is that, if Hillary's telling the truth, she should welcome the investigation. Her exoneration would prove her detractors wrong, and help eliminate her little "trustworthiness problem." She could sail into Election Day on a wave of apologies and restored confidence. Again…that’s if she’s telling the truth. Don’t hold your breath.
