Obama tries to lecture president of Kenya on gay rights . . . that doesn't go so well

One thing everyone knows about a narcissist is that he thinks everything is about him. The Supreme Court makes gay marriage legal in all 50 states, and the next thing you know the White House is bathed in the gay rainbow colors. Why? Because Barack Obama thinks he did it. And he needs you to know that this is his accomplishment.

Particularly cocky narcissists tend to feel their oats at a time like this, and they can't help but push. Not only is the victory his, but so is the need to go around and get in other people's faces about it. Now that gay marriage has been shoved down the collective throat of the entire country, Obama needs to start lecturing the leaders of other countries about it. So before his recent trip to Africa, he vowed that he would press the leaders of African nations on the matter of gay rights. Because surely they would be willing to listen to the hectoring of Barack Obama, so honored would they be just to have him in their presence. How did that go? Funnily enough, when Obama tried this schtick on Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta . . . not so well: I don't know much about Kenyatta, although I know a lot of other nations have issues with him. But he comes off here as a leader who takes seriously the task of governance. He understands that Africa needs to work on economic stability and other basic matters pertaining to its people's quality of life instead of messing around with stuff like gay rights which is nothing more than an attempt by the political left to start a fight with Christians. I don't know if Kenyatta sees it that way or not, but he clearly understands that he and his nation have more important issues to tackle and he has no interest in having Obama lecture him about it. Seeing Obama's reaction to this is just delicious. He really thinks that because he is the first African-American president of the United States, he can dictate a social agenda to the presidents of real African nations and they will fall all over themselves to follow his lead. African nations face a lot of real challenges, and there is a lot a serious U.S. president could do to help Africa meet those challenges and become stronger. Instead, we elect and send over there a guy who decides to preen about gay rights - only to be faced by his host, who wants to talk about issues that actually matter to Kenya. Maybe the next president will take serious issues seriously. Maybe next time the American electorate will take the task of choosing a leader seriously.
