CNN and the New York Times loved last night’s biased presidential debate. No wonder. Fox News is now just like them

The Talking Head Election Debate

Americans, or at least roughly half of their country’s population, are looking for a miracle to drag their country back from the cliff edge after almost seven years of a president intent on destroying it. They found out last night they’ll get no help saving the country from the media, and disappointing to many conservatives, including Fox News.
Fox is crowing today and patting itself on the back that last night’s debate, watched by 24 million people, shattered all records. “In the estimation of many reporters who cover the political and media beats, Fox News was the winner of the first GOP debate. And with the just-released ratings we can confirm that. (TV Newser)
“A whopping 24 million watched the debate from 9 p.m. ET to just past 11 p.m. ET. FNC drew 7.9 million in the A25-54 demo. “This is now the highest non-sports cable program of all time, the highest-rated cable news program of all time, and Fox News’s most-watched program ever. “The 5 p.m. ET debate, withe the 7 lower-tier candidates did very well for Fox News too, drawing 6.1 million total viewers and 1.2 million in the demo, making it the third-highest primary debate ever on cable.”
Bully for Fox. But shouldn’t it have been bully for the GOP hopefuls the debate was touted to be about, and even more importantly, bully for long-suffering Americans hoping against hope for that elusive miracle?

While viewers tuned in to get a look at the candidates and hear how they stand on the issues that matter most to them, Fox moderators took up nearly 32% of the debate time, in what could be best described as ‘The Talking Head Election Debate’. Viewers learned more about Fox News than they did about the GOP presidential hopefuls when it became clear that like those of most other television networks, Fox talking head/reporters and anchors are on a self-serving mission to entertain viewers rather than report on the news. In taking over the limelight, the Fox moderators did everything but pull out their yo-yos. Megyn Kelly was the big star of the opening act seeming to seek brownie points by going all out to knock real estate developer Donald Trump off his impressive popularity perch. Kelly’s overly sensitive sensibilities, it seems, were ruffled when Trump called Rosie O’Donnell names in countering insults she had hurled at his wife and children on The View. Not only did Kelly presume that the 24 million who tuned in wanted to watch her Star is Born performance, her act was one that flew in the face of what voters want. So far it’s been Donald Trump, and it now appears that Fox News has joined the Establishment in trying to cancel him out. The problem for We the People with reporters as entertainers is that, with President Barack Obama pushing their country over the precipice at a breakneck pace, they want to judge GOP contenders for themselves. The Donald’s wasn’t the only hide Kelly went after, she was out for Governor Scott Walker’s hide because of his stand on abortion. “Would you really let a mother die rather than have an abortion?” Kelly asked. “And with 83 percent of the American public in favor of a life exception, are you too out of the mainstream on this issue to win the general election?” she asked Walker. Fox may be boasting and preening about the record-breaking 24 million viewers who watched their ‘debate’, but they can make it 24 million who watched Fox News join the ranks of the biased leftwing mainstream media on prime time TV. Kelly’s finale after the debate when she had Debbie Wasserman Shultz on as a special guest speaks volumes. While Fox News fritters away time taking up nearly 32% of the presidential debate time, Americans are losing their country. Their children are coming out of university with no job prospects. Parents and grandparents lay awake nights worrying what kind of future their children face in a post constitutional America. Meanwhile, among the 24 million viewers Fox News is gloating about, CNN and the New York Times loved last night’s biased presidential debate. No wonder. Fox News is now just like them.
