Says Hillary signals jihadists have an "open season" on Americans

Fiorina says 'It's not clear Trump is a Republican' - shreds Hillary's Benghazi response

The more people see and hear from Carly Fiorina, the more her political star continues to rise. That process began with her stellar performance during the GOP's 2nd tier debate. Since then, her numbers, her visibility, and her prominence within the 2016 field have all been steadily climbing. With that comes increased camera time on the Sunday morning news shows. During an interview on ABC's This Week, she took a few minutes to discuss both Donald Trump and the fallout from Hillary Clinton's post-Benghazi lie-a-thon.
First came her thoughts on Trump. During a speech Friday, Trump accused Fiorina of getting "a little nasty" and warned her that she "better watch out."
"I find it sort of amusing. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about or focusing on what Donald Trump is saying. When his insults are below the belt to someone, then I will make a comment - just as I did when President Obama called anyone who disagreed with his Iranian deal an equivalent to the hard liners chanting "death to America." I just think insults are not helpful to the political process."
Fiorina was then asked if she thought Trump would alienate female voters.
"It's not clear to me that Donald Trump is a Republican, first of all, based on his willingness to run a third-party bid and some of the positions that he's taken. But I think it's really important as I go out there and talk - what I hear and what I see - is both men and women who are sick of the professional political class. They're sick of the festering problems in Washington DC. They agree that it's ridiculous that in the smartest and richest country in the world that we can't get basic things done like serve our veterans secure our borders and hold government accountable for being competent."
If you're a big Trump fan, you're probably saying something along the lines of: "Of course he's not a Republican! He's better than that. Look what the Republicans have become lately!" On the other hand, if you can't stand Trump, you probably think she let him off the hook too easily.

What she's doing here, though, is politically pretty astute. First, she put a spotlight on Trump's unfortunate refusal to rule out a third party bid - something that would all but guarantee a Hillary Clinton victory. Then, she managed to throw a sideways glance at Trump's less popular views, like funding the allegedly extant "good parts" of Planned Parenthood and his recent support for single-payer healthcare. Plus, she did all of this in the nicest, sharpest, and subtlest way possible. Then she turned her attention to the real enemy, Hillary Clinton, on whom she unloaded with both barrels.
"What I’m saying is: The night that Benghazi attack happened, Secretary of State Clinton, President Obama and others knew that this was a purposeful, preplanned terrorist attack. Nevertheless, the next morning she addressed the American people from the State Department and talked about a video and how it didn’t represent the values of the American people and several days later, she stood over the bodies of the fallen and said the same. What she should have said that morning was the truth. This is purposeful terrorist attack and we will seek retribution. Instead she basically apologized. And so what signal did that send? What signal did that send to all the bad guys all over the world? The signal it sent, was “open season,” we can attack an embassy, murder four Americans and nothing is going to happen."
Refreshing. This entire interview could serve as a refresher course for the rest of the GOP field. The more Carly Fiorina speaks, the more people seem to like her. It's the exact opposite of the reaction to the Dems' "inevitable" nominee.
