Why are wealthy Gulf States such as Saudi Arabia refusing to take in these poor souls?

Syrian refugee crisis

"As Amnesty International recently pointed out, the "six Gulf countries -- Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain -- have offered zero resettlement places to Syrian refugees." This claim was echoed by Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch" In regards to the Syrian refugee crisis, it is important to note that the Gulf States of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, , Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain have done nothing to assist Syrian refugees, or any other refugees within their geographic proximity.

Yet, after reading through three major Canadian news publications in one sitting, not a single word is mentioned about this curious situation. Additionally, the president of Syria is barely mentioned, let alone ISIS, perhaps the number one perpetrator of the entire conflict. What is mentioned, however, is a plethora of commentary criticizing and condemning Canada, Stephen Harper, and Minister of Immigration Chris Alexander, implying these entities are somehow responsible for the death of the young refugee child. They are not. The people of Canada are not. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of non-Canadian entities-- the Syrian government, ISIS, and other militant elements of Islam. Should Canada be held responsible simply because the family of the boy previously applied for refugee status in our country? Should Harper be held accountable because he didn't have a crystal ball to see into the tragic future of the boy, or his family? Why are wealthy Gulf States such as Saudi Arabia refusing to take in these poor souls? The answer is simple...BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO...because unlike Canada, none of the Gulf countries signed the 1951 U.N. Refugee Convention. Thus far, the mainstream Canadian media have omitted these highly relevant pieces of the equation, preferring instead to put the blame on western, democratic nations--including our own country-- thus perpetuating the myth that nations such as Canada are somehow responsible for the chaos presently occurring within the Islamic world.
