Wolf Blitzer tries to play race-based 'gotcha' with Ben Carson - Carson isn't having it

Any Republican who appears on CNN knows the drill. They would love nothing more than to trip you up, create a soundbite, and then use it to destroy you. To that end, their interviews contain a steady stream of 'gotcha questions' - a line of inquiry that, no matter how you answer, will probably cause you some damage.

To quote the '80s classic Wargames, "The only winning move is not to play." If you refuse to give legitimacy to the interviewer's trap, you can disarm it. It looks like Dr. Ben Carson has learned that lesson, because Wolf Blitzer just tried - and failed - to "get him" with a ridiculous series of questions about whether Barack Obama is a "real" black President. The exchange comes at the beginning of the following clip, and you can really feel that Blitzer is salivating over the prospect of cornering Dr. Carson. Carson handles himself well, does it again when Blitzer tries the exact same move regarding Obama's religion, and goes on to do a good job with a host of legitimate questions as well. Next time Blitzer tries this (and he's is nothing if not repetitive) someone should force him to define what, exactly, he thinks a "real black President" is.
