According to the report, MoveOn.org’s petition, No Room For Hate On Saturday Night Live, has grown from only 15,000 signatures Friday evening to more than 117,000 and counting as of Sunday night. The National Hispanic Leadership Agenda said in an open letter to SNL Executive Producer Lorne Michaels and NBC Universal CEO Stephen Burke that the group was “appalled” at the decision to allow the presidential hopeful to host the show, since Trump has not apologized for his “racist” rhetoric, which called for mass deportations and incorrectly labeled immigrants as little more than criminals and rapists.Of course, this story incorrectly describes Trump's comments. He did not say immigrants are little more than criminals and rapists. He said the Mexican government takes its criminals and rapists and sends them across the border with the rest of the immigrants. But it hardly matters. A liberal nuisance group like this is going to run with the mischaracterization that's already passed muster in the mainstream media. It's much easier to get 117,000 signatures on a petition that way, and that allows you to follow up with one of those sniveling little fundraising e-mails that I suppose are the only thing keeping this outfit going these days. By the way, are they still signed by Wes Boyd? It's been a long time since I was on their mailing list, and believe me I don't want back on. I was just wondering if the post-Monica era that saw the group grasping for a reason to still exist might have metastasized into a long-term way of doing business. Another question: Does anyone actually still stay up and watch SNL? You just watch the clips online the next day or two, right? Then again, maybe I'm projecting in thinking it's impossible for any human being to stay up much past 10 p.m. - even to watch Donald Trump and happily imagine the precious ones at MoveOn.org having conniption fits.
