Freedom is Fair, but it isn’t Equal

Freedom is NOT for Everyone Even in the Home of the Brave

More than anything else, the 2008 presidential election proves that freedom is not for everyone, including in the land of the free and home of the brave.

All campaign rhetoric aside, when we get right down to the meat and potatoes of what the incoming Progressive Democrat movement represents, we find that it represents a growing public interest in a government run by the Marxist principles of each according to his ability or need, rather than the American principles of each free to do as they please, with liberty and justice for all. The term “liberal” is a complete misnomer today, a one word oxymoron. Little more than 230 years after the founding of the greatest free nation in human history, we find that freedom simply isn’t for everyone, namely liberals. We find that many modern Americans prefer to be taken care of, rather than to preserve the freedom to take care of themselves.

Freedom is Fair, but it isn’t Equal

Under freedom, those who do, get - and those who don’t, might do without... While this is entirely fair, it is far from equal, and that is where the problem begins. Many Americans have been trained to believe that an equal outcome, despite unequal effort, is an unalienable Constitutional right of every American. It is an entitlement mentality which says, “I don’t have to produce or contribute anything. I am entitled to equal pay and equal stuff, despite the lack of equal effort or sacrifice on my part.” And a growing number of Americans are buying into that thought pattern. In short, freedom only works well for those who use their freedoms well. Those who do not use their freedoms well will pay the price of failure. The same freedom that makes it possible to succeed also makes it possible to fail. Success and failure are two sides of the same coin and the individual choices we make will determine which side of that coin we represent. While nothing on earth is fairer than freedom, it is inconvenient, uncomfortable, unequal and therefore politically unacceptable. People must not be allowed the freedom to fail. So, they can not be allowed the freedom to succeed either...

21st Century Demographics of American Voters

The 2008 election cycle was a “winner take all” election. Democrats will control all branches of the federal government, with unhealthy margins of power in all. Here’s how they won unbridled power, and why it is likely to remain that way for the foreseeable future. The first demographic breakdown is in registered voters, divided into Democrats, Republicans and Independent voters. As of 2004 party registration rolls, here is that breakdown, in round numbers. 55 million registered Democrats 44 million registered Republicans 42 million registered Independents Both Democrat and Independent rolls have increased since 2004, while Republican rolls have continued to decline. But even using the 2004 numbers in which Democrats have an 11 million vote advantage over Republicans in national races, it is not hard to see how Obama won the White House with a 7 million vote margin. Frankly, it should have been much more and had many Democrats not been disenfranchised via the treatment of Hillary Clinton throughout the primaries, it would have been.

Today’s Democrats

As is demonstrated by the continued fall of the Republican Party rolls, its clear that today’s Republican leaders do not represent traditional Republican values. So long as that remains the case, the party will likely remain in decline. Independents have grown in number as a result of an increasing sense that neither political party really represents the true will of most Americans anymore. But the big story is in what has happened to yesterday’s Democrat Party. While clearly the nations favorite at this moment in history, it is not on the basis of what that party represented for most of the last 230 years.

Democrat Demographics circa 2009

Within today’s Democrat Party, 45.6% identify themselves as liberals (progressives), 33.2% identify themselves as “conservatives” (though I have no idea what they think that term means???), and 21.2% identify themselves as “disadvantaged,” which appears to mean, single issue special interest voters. Collectively, here’s what they stand for politically... They strongly oppose the declared unalienable right to life and strongly oppose any restrictions to abortion on demand They strongly oppose the Patriot Act and all federal intelligence efforts to stop another 9/11 on American soil They strongly support the death penalty for unwanted children, but strongly oppose the death penalty for convicted felons They strongly oppose the traditional definition of marriage and strongly support gay marriage They marginally favor free trade (but one must qualify the word “free”) They strongly oppose strong national defense and strongly favor cutting defense systems and related spending They strongly favor immigration, including illegal immigration And they almost unanimously favor socialized medicine, aka nationalized health care Concerning social benefits, in the fed they trust. But that sentiment does not carry over to the original purposes of the federal government, such as national security operations or a common defense. Consistent with their primary policy markers, they are heavily anti-war (no matter the cause), anti-national defense, anti-intelligence operations, somewhat anti-trade, anti-morality, anti-life and anti-individual freedom. Where I come from, all of this makes them anti-American... and most of our nations founders would agree.

Liberty

According to today’s Democrats, human LIFE is not a civil right. But the right of a mother to take an innocent life is... The CIA, NSA, FBI, DOD and other US intelligence agencies have no right to track, capture, detain, interrogate or kill known terrorists. But they do have the right to track and jail a legal citizen for not paying their taxes on time. You do not have the right to earn as much as your imagination and hard work will allow. But they do have a right to take your earnings for the greater common good, as they define it. To them, the 1st Amendment guarantees their right to pornography and their unbridled open opposition to US policies even during a time of war. But it does not guarantee your right to free religious expression, or your open opposition to them, both of which they deem “hate speech.” I can keep going for a few pages here, but I think these examples amply make the point. These things, they call “progressive” ideas...

Social Demographics

Academia - 72% of full-time faculty members identified as liberal, while only 15% identified as conservative Some 95% of African-Americans consistently vote Democrat The Media - 99% of their political contributions go to Democrats Due to the illegal immigration issue, a vast majority of Hispanic voters shifted to Democrats in 2008, in hopes of an outright Amnesty program for 20 million illegals living in the US, and their families back home Even though Democrats are not strong supporters of Israel, Jewish voters are strong supporters of Democrat politicians Few in the top 50% of income earners vote Democrat, but most in the bottom 50% do vote Democrat. That’s because the top 50% pay 97.01% of all federal taxes while the bottom 50% pay only 2.99% of all federal taxes Most gays vote Democrat in search of special rights for the gay community Believers in Al Gore’s Global Warming Swindle vote Democrat, even though some 500 climate scientists are suing Gore for fraudulent science However, only 20% of American soldiers ever vote Democrat, for obvious reasons

Freedom is NOT for Everyone

Freedom is only for those morally sound enough to self-govern, fiscally responsible enough to self-govern and politically astute enough to self-govern. As our founders stated over 230 years ago, our system of self-governance is wholly inadequate for any immoral irresponsible society. People unable to govern themselves must be governed by others. Those who are ideologically conservative enough to self-govern without doing damage to themselves, will always demand the freedom to do so. But those who are unable to self-govern successfully, will gladly trade their freedom for a progressive promise of free stuff. And so today, Americans are proving that freedom is not for everyone. It is only for the brave, the morally sound, the fiscally responsible, and the ideologically informed. All others will need progressive government, to accomplish that which they are unable or unwilling to accomplish on their own. Not freedom.... but equality. Not equal opportunity, but equal results. Thus, freedom dies once again, as the people demand bondage, failing at freedom. This is what we must learn from the 2008 election. It is the only lesson of any value... and before we can live free again, we must survive the coming tide of Democratic Socialism. There is no way out, but through the fire. Freedom was supposed to be for all Americans, but clearly, it isn’t. Freedom demands personal responsibility and accountability. Today’s so-called “liberals” are not really liberal at all. Individual liberty and personal freedom is not for them. In the governing elite they trust. Personal freedom didn’t work out for them... How sad for the freest people on earth.
