Are American Taxpayers Paying Attention?

The Buck Always Stops with Taxpayers

Obama administration officials have their talking point down pat – “everything is still George Bush’s fault.” They only have one, because it has worked so well for them to date.

When Obama took office less than a month ago, the federal deficit was at a staggering $10 trillion after almost eighty years of constant deficit spending by congress, including the $1 trillion bank bailout passed by Bush and the Democrat congress in the final weeks of the Bush administration. Since Obama took office a short three weeks ago, he has proposed a second $1 trillion “stimulus package,” which reads like the greatest pork orgy in human history, and makes FDR’s New Deal look like a Raw Deal for Americans permanently affixed to the public teat. Now his new financial genius Tim Geithner, who can’t even figure out his own personal taxes and was directly part of the massive banking and market crisis that led us where we are today, is proposing another $3 trillion in so-called “bank stabilization” funds, and they are just getting warmed up.
[As an aside, just in case you have not figured it out for yourself yet, your money is not being used to “bailout” the free market economy. It is being used to “buy up” federal control of the US economy. Listen closely to the heavy handed leftist control strings attached to every penny in so-called “stimulus” or “bailout” funding. That’s why free market investors flee from the market for safer havens, every time Democrats announce new “buy up” legislation. Check market reactions for yourself. American voters are ignorant, but investors aren’t...]
That’s $4 TRILLION in NEW taxpayer debt in just three weeks in office. A 40% increase in the overall national debt in less than a month... and still counting. Of course, this is in addition to the more than $3 trillion annual federal budget consumed by past spending decisions.
  • 23% to pay for Medicare and Medicaid (FDR New Deal)
  • 21% to pay Social Security benefits (FDR New Deal)
  • 21% to pay for National Defense (The fundamental function of the fed)
  • 17% in so-called “discretionary spending” (earmarks and pet pork)
  • 10% in “other mandatory spending” (mostly administrative costs)
  • 8% just in interest on our outstanding national debt (and growing)
  • Lies, and Damn Lies

Obama has been out campaigning for his current leftist power grab bill, stating over and over again that he “inherited this huge deficit from Bush.” But Bush was just the president. It is congress who controls the purse strings in America and Democrats were in control of congress for most of the eighty years of deficit spending, and since 2006, including Obama, when our nation’s financial system was steered into crisis. And, if Obama is right, that deficit spending put us where we are today, then why is he accelerating deficit spending at a rate never before seen in human history? If Bush’s $1 trillion in annual deficit spending was bad, how will Obama’s $5 trillion in annual deficit spending solve the problem? Obama says that “we need this spending in order to dig our way out of the hole that Bush deficit spending put us into, and that the sky will fall if we don’t do it fast.” Does he really not know that you must stop digging when you find yourself in a hole? Or is something else happening here? If he is half as smart as the people who voted for him think he is, then there is NO way that he is not smart enough to know that you must stop digging in order to work your way out of a hole. The average fifth grader knows this much... you don’t trade your shovel for a backhoe and keep digging...

    What’s the Rush?

The American people are being told that the rush to pass this socialist spending spree is an effort to look after them, and avoid total imminent collapse of the free market. But more than 65% of the current spending is not to be spent for more than 18 months. Over 60% of the spending in the bill is completely unrelated to economic stimulus... They are certainly in a rush to do something, but clearly, it isn’t to stimulate the free market economy. So what is it?

    Public Awareness

When Pelosi’s House first passed their massive Marxism bill, public support for the package was above 70%, because nobody had seen the fine print yet. A week later, after reading some of the fine print, public support dropped to only 30% or so... As each day passes, the people learn more and more about all the pork barrel spending and socialist power grabs that is, the so-called “stimulus package.” The people are starting to figure out that what is being rushed through congress and what they are being told, are two very different things... and as a result, time is very much a factor in getting this bill signed into law before the people put all of the pieces of the puzzle together and form a lynch mob for DC Democrats...

  • I’ll stop here. Just know that this list is only a small example of the enormous waste represented by the so-called trillion dollar “stimulus” bill Obama hopes to slam dunk through congress in the next 72 hours. What items on this list have anything whatsoever to do with “stimulating the free market economy?” Obama says “note that there are no earmarks!” That’s because the entire bill is nothing more than a wish list of leftist earmarks from start to finish. The meat of the bill is one leftist special interest pork item after another; therefore, those things don’t need to be piggybacked onto the bill via their standard earmark amendments. New York Democrat Chucky Schumer told reporters yesterday that the American people don’t care at all about all of the pork in this bill. Is that true??? Are taxpayers included in that assessment?

The Buck Stops with the Taxpayer

The only money government can spend is the money that taxpayers are willing to fund. According to the IRS, the top 50% of income earners currently pay over 97% of all federal taxes, while the bottom 50%, those “targeted” in this growing list of “targeted” socialist expenditures, pay less than 3%... Of course, those who pay less than 3% of federal taxes are anxious to see Obama’s bill pass, expecting a check in the mail any day now. But those who pay more than 97% of federal taxes have a say in this matter too, don’t they?

    Are they Paying Attention?

If they are, they had better take a day or two off work and drive themselves to Capitol Hill to stop the Marxist regime in charge from spending them into a level of taxpayer debt they can never recover from... If they aren’t paying attention, or aren’t willing to take immediate action, then they deserve everything they are about to get! Half of the nation is in a mad rush to rob the other half blind. Shame on us if we let them do it! If you honestly want to know how we got where we are today, take fifteen minutes to read the full official history of American tax and spend policy here... Arm yourself with the facts at all times, because you are being shoveled a constant diet of lies daily! According to this mornings Rasmussen report, 67% of Americans now say that they could do a better job with the economy than congress, and they are right about that! So why are they allowing Obama and his Marxist congress to make matters worse by digging the hole even deeper?

    See Rasmussen Report here...

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” - Thomas Jefferson They don’t seem at all worried about us, but I sure sense a growing fear in every American taxpayer, and for good reason! ©2009 USA
