(Winter Haven, Florida) -- Recent research shows that diabetes is an epidemic affecting an estimated 150 million people worldwide--and those numbers are expected to double in the next 15 years. Now a new research proven product called Emulin˙ from ATM Metabolics is being launched that is showing great promise reducing the damage of diabetes in recent trials. Emulin is an impressive therapy for the treatment of type 2 diabetes that can reduce the amount and rate of sugar that can be absorbed into the bloodstream and lessen the glycemic impact of foods. Furthermore, it appears to have the ability to reduce the background (fasting) level of glucose in the blood of type 2 diabetics, showing the potential to lessen the damage to tissue.

Emulin is a naturally derived compound that has the unique ability to buffer and stifle the effects of glucose on the human metabolic pathway, which will be instrumental in treating hyperglycaemia. It is an entirely new way of attacking the problems of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, the precursor of diabetes. Emulin works by a combinational approach to mitigate the damage cause by hyperglycaemia from the diet by its insulinomimetic affects. Emulin is a combination of specific natural phytochemicals whose mechanisms have been explicitly identified and selected to have a very specific effect. All plant extracts, and even all pharmaceuticals, work on only one symptom or metabolic pathway. Recently, Dr. Ralph DeFronzo, the most noted and respected medical researcher on diabetes, stated that to attack diabetes and obesity, we must address the 7-8 major symptoms at one time, or we will get nowhere. Emulin works on 7 fronts. Additionally, most plant extracts have side effects and some are even dangerous. Emulin has no negative side effects and cannot be overused. "We realized that people were getting diabetes and obesity as consumption of sugar increased in diets, such as with drinking colas," say Dr. Joseph Ahrens and Daryl Thompson of ATM Metabolics, Inc. "But, on the other hand, no one was getting diabetes from drinking orange juice and other natural products." Ahrens and his team theorized that it was not the high sugar load per se that was causing the epidemic, but that something is left out of our diets -- that there was something in tropical fruits and berries that must be preventing this, or managing the high sugar load. The group started with looking at grapefruit and oranges, then moved on to further look at pineapples, muscadine grapes. They identified the natural compounds in these fruits that were helping bodies digest and use sugar, and confirmed this with animal and human studies. "After using Emulin, our own parents are now not diabetic."

Emulin Research:

Emulin is backed by rat studies as well as human trials, undertaken at leading and well-respected clinical laboratories. Patients received 250 mg of Emulin orally, in capsule form, 3 times a day, 15 minutes before meals for a period of 2 weeks. After 1 week, Emulin reduced glucose by up to 15% compared to placebo and outperformed metformin. Metformin performed better when accompanied by Emulin, decreasing fasting blood sugar by over 27%. Either Emulin is having an effect on pathways not affected by metformin (the separate effects are additive), or Emulin is causing metformin to be more effective. Metformin alone decreased AUC 7% at one week, and when taken with Emulin, the reduction was over 20%. This is highly indicative that there is a synergistic effect of Emulin and metformin. The effectiveness of Emulin is shown to be hundreds of times more effective than extracts, and even 10 fold m ore effective than Metformin. "Emulin does a better job at reducing blood sugar levels in type II diabetes than metformin, the most commonly prescribed drug," says Dr. Mark Kipnes of Cetero Labs. "Emulin is a genuine breakthrough." Dr. DeFronzo says, "Clinical results suggest that Emulin, if consumed regularly, could not only have the acute effect of lowering the glycemic impact of foods, but chronically increase insulin production and sensitivity, lower background blood glucose levels of type 2 diabetics, and not only arrest, but reverse the development of diabetes in pre-diabetic individuals". Dr. Gary Grover, professor of physiology and biophysics at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School says, "This is one of the most difficult and extreme research models to test with and I was very impressed with the outcome. I have never seen anything perform like this in this severe of a model, other than insulin itself. It may be regenerating B[eta]-cells".

Applications:

Due to Emulin's high heat stability and resistance to oxidation, it has the potential to be added to beverages and processed foods as a food additive. It also shows promise as a pharmaceutical, especially as an enhancement to existing treatments for type 2 diabetes. ATM Metabolics is currently sharing its research findings with the medical and food industries respectively to benefit as many consumers worldwide as possible.
