A suspected terrorist, rearrested for reasons unknown at the Brampton courthouse yesterday, took a hike from his trial, simply saying over his shoulder: “I’m outta here”.
Even with news reports saying that the 20-year-old Islamic convert had tried to walk out of the mostly empty courtroom, his lawyer was denying the accuracy of the event.
“It was not immediately clear why the young man was arrested during the court hearing. Neither his lawyer, Mitchell Chernovsky, nor a spokesman for the government would comment in great detail about the day’s event.” (thestar.com, May 7, 2008). “When asked about reports that the accused had fired him as his defence lawyer, Chernovsky said he was “unable to comment”.
A “Dismal Joke” or an Act of Grace?By David Dastych Tuesday, May 6, 2008
Warsaw, Poland: In his book Memory and Identity, Pope John Paul II said of his visit after Christmas 1983 to Rebibbia Prison to see Mehmet Ali Agca:
“We talked for a long time. Ali Agca is, as everyone says, a professional assassin, which means that the assassination was not his initiative that someone else thought of it, someone else gave the order.
”I had a feeling that I would survive. I was in pain, I had reason to be afraid, but I had this strange feeling of confidence...Oh, my Lord! This was a difficult experience.”
Government withdraws police protection from Bangladeshi JournalistBy Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury Tuesday, May 6, 2008
Right after spreading of anti-Semitic, anti-US and pro-Islamist campaign by a reporter with Associated Press in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s military backed interim government has suddenly withdrawn police protection from the residence of Weekly Blitz editor Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury as of last night. When contacted, the duty officer at Uttara Police station told Blitz that the “protection was withdrawn due to shortage of forces”, while another source on condition of anonymity disclosed that the police protection was withdrawn due to specific briefs from the top brass.

Ceasefires in Islam: Not Always What They Seem to BeBy Frank Salvato Saturday, May 3, 2008
It seems as though every other day we hear there is another “ceasefire” in the Middle East. This is chiefly because there is so much violent Islamofascist aggression throughout the Middle East but it is also because of something more. Just as there is no exact translation between the Arabic and English languages, we in the West would be wise to realize that this “inexactness” exists as a constant in the relationship between the cultures of Islam and Western Civilization. This convolution of conceptual understanding is aptly illustrated where the subject of military ceasefires is concerned.
Spielberg to Direct Lockerbie Bombing MovieBy Ludwig de Braeckeleer Friday, May 2, 2008
Legendary Hollywood director Steven Spielberg will direct a movie regarding the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am 103 over the town of Lockerbie in Scotland.
The movie is an adaptation of the book Flight 103, written by former Israeli officer and MOSSAD agent Juval Aviv.
”I believe the book will have an impact around the world because what happened over Lockerbie that day affected so many people in so many countries, and continues to do so,” Aviv said a few weeks before the release of the book.
Hillary encouraged husband to declassify UFO information, Canadian researcher discoversBy Judi McLeod Thursday, May 1, 2008
Barack Obama may be coming on like a rock star and the second coming of a JFK in the charisma department, but Hillary Clinton’s arrival at the White House may be destined in the stars.
A new Clinton constituency among truth seekers in Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) may have been uncovered by Canadian researcher Grant Cameron from the Office of Science and Technology Policy, who, via the Freedom of Information Act, gleaned information that Hillary Clinton coaxed her husband while he was president to declassify government documents on UFOs. The information found by Cameron comes from nearly 1,000 pages of correspondence and documents.
It seems that Hillary was under the influence of Laurance Rockefeller in wanting to pry loose information about extraterrestrials.

Warsaw, Poland: A new sensational book was launched in Poland on Monday, April 28. Its author, an American journalist and writer John O. Koehler claims that in November 1979 in Moscow a group of nine prominent Soviet Communist Party leaders signed a secret document instructing the KGB to “use all available possibilities to prevent a new political trend, initiated by the Polish pope,” and “if necessary - reach to means beyond disinformation and discreditation.” Two journalists of a top-ranking Polish weekly “Wprost” (read: vprost, it means “direct” in Polish) reached the author of that book, entitled “It’s about the Pope”: Spies in the Vatican”. In their article, published on April 28, Rafal Pasztelanski and Grzegorz (Greg) Sadowski quoted a conversation with Mr. Koehler about his discovery: “I was shocked, when I found this order. The means “beyond disinformation and discreditation” meant only one thing: an approval to kill the pope.”
Nabbed and held captive by Brooklyn Jihadis!By OnTheWeb Monday, April 28, 2008
(Editor’s Note: If Bos Smith, who holds a law degree from Wake Forest University can be hauled away by an angry group of angry Muslims in Islamic garb to the basement of a mosque where a group of 20 “security guards” in karate suits all for taking a photo, what about a tourist taking pictures for his travelogue? The working man’s lament, “It’s a free country, isn’t it?” doesn’t seem to work anymore.)
A tree grew in Brooklyn.
No longer.

Warsaw, Poland: New, sensational documents concerning the attempt against the late pope, John Paul II, have been revealed in a new book by John O. Kohler, an American journalist and writer. The book, entitled ”It’s About the Pope. Spies in the Vatican”, will be released in Poland on Monday, April 28, 2008 by ZNAK Publishing House, known for its publications about the late pope.
The author unearthed a Kremlin document, which listed Soviet Politbureau members, who had signed an “informal death sentence” on the Polish pope. “Use all available possibilities to prevent a new political trend, initiated by the Polish pope, and
“if necessary - reach to means beyond disinformation and discreditation.” This instruction was given to their subordinates in the KGB by members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party in November of 1979.

How many people remember US Senator John Kerry’s “global test” remark? During his unsuccessful bid for the presidency, Kerry said that US troops must be used only if “that passes the global test…and you can prove to the world that you did it for legitimate reasons.” To be sure, the comment was one of many that Kerry made that showed just how out of step he was with American voters—and he paid the price at the polls. But more importantly, it was a comment that was not his alone but stemmed from one of the basic articles of liberal faith: that under President George W. Bush, the United States has lost its standing and moral authority in the world. It is an article of faith that 2008 presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama return to again and again.

North American Union: Three Amigos Less One?By Judi McLeod Wednesday, April 23, 2008
If U.S. presidential candidates Senators Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama want to dabble with a renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), they’ll find Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper standing in their way.
Harper issued a warning yesterday to future U.S. leaders out to renegotiate the North American free-trade Agreement (NAFTA), warning them that Canada would drive a tougher bargain because of its position as America’s biggest energy supplier.
Gorging Gore “addicted” to steakBy Judi McLeod Tuesday, April 22, 2008
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) may have got former Vice President Al Gore in the doghouse with his main Global Warming sidekick Maurice Strong by pointing out his “addiction” to red meat.
While “PETA appreciates the work that Al Gore has done to raise awareness about the problem of global warming (emphasis PETA’s, they think he’s “Too chicken to go vegetarian”.
Gore may be finicky when it comes to Mr. Edison’s incandescent light bulb, but according to PETA his love for steak and sausage is creating greenhouse gas emissions.
Putin Denied, Kabaeva Denied, Tabloid Apologized, Lyudmila…?By David Dastych Sunday, April 20, 2008
At a press conference with Silvio Berlusconi on Sardinia, Vladimir Putin officially denied a story that had circulated the world since Friday, April 16. Smiling and relaxed, Putin said “there is not a single word of truth” to the report carried by Moscow tabloid Moskovsky Korrespondent alleging that the former Russian President intended to marry a gym champion, model and MP, Alina Kabaeva, on June 15.

With all the happenings taking place during this year’s Atlantic seal harvest folks have begun to ask me why I’ve remained virtually silent on the issue this time around. “It’s not like you”, they say, and they’re right.
In my own defence all I can say is that I’ve been having such a good time (barring the tragic incidents that took place) that I made a concious decision to remain a fly on the wall and simply soak it all in.
Until now that is. Things have reached a point where I simply can’t hold back any longer.
Tsar Putin to Marry a Gym ChampionBy David Dastych Wednesday, April 16, 2008
The career of Vladimir V. Putin, 56, is not one from rags to riches but rather from obscure secrecy of the former KGB officer in a dull East Germany to the trumpets and glory of the Kremlin. At the end of his second term as President of the Russian Federation, and perhaps before his new ascent to the highest officer four years later, Putin has become a national idol and a true Tsar of Russia. He is also reported to be fabulously rich, within a range of $40 billion.

No doubt Victor Bout has a loving and loyal wife. All she told The Times is her own version of his business life and an expression of her affection to him.
The most interesting news in this article is that the Thai authorities “dropped charges against him last week” but they still want to hand him over to the American justice. Russian media wrote about Bout’s connections to the Russian military intelligence and his association with high Kremlin bosses, Igor Sechin in particular. It seems very likely that Victor Bout’s arrest in Bangkok wasn’t a “detached” event but the result of an “underground” fight in the Russian military and intelligence establishment.

At the recent closing arguments of the Mohammed al-Dura trial, France 2 screened a special video presentation about what happened at the Netzarim Junction on the fateful day. That presentation, which Charles Enderlin recently posted online, unfortunately relies on the same kind of staged footage as the original al-Dura video did.
Professor Richard Landes blows the lid on this disingenuous video.
Go to our Backspin blog to see Enderlin’s footage and to comment on this story. The France2 presentation’s in French, of course, but even if you mute the sound, you’ll easily understand what Enderlin wants the images to convey.
Google Earth Taking You Inside Refugee Camps
By Joshua Hill Thursday, April 10, 2008
There is little doubt left in many minds that I am a Google-fanboy. I literally can’t see them doing anything wrong, and I will gladly pledge my allegiance to their worldwide domination; surely it is inevitable. Their latest mission though, only proves my view that they are in fact, a force for good.
In an effort made in tandem with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Google has added a UNHCR layer to its Google Earth application and Google Maps web application. Now, instead of being hidden away from cameras, Google has brought the plight of the refugee in to our own living rooms.

Only half of the Iran-Contra affair has been told.
--Amiram Nir, counterterrorism advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, point-man of Oliver North in the Iran-Contra operations, from an interview with Bob Woodward, Summer 1988:
While reviewing some materials concerning various Iranian political events having occurred during the last years of Khomeini, I came across a fantastic piece of information which allows us to identify with great probability, in fact with near certainty, the man previously only known as “Witness C” or by his alias, Abolghasem Mesbahi.

“Life is hard. It’s harder if you’re stupid.” - JOHN WAYNE
Is stupid the new smart? Is dumb the new wise? Is oblivious the new aware?
I am prompted to pose these simple questions in light of current events as witnessed through the probing lenses of television cameras and the scribblings of the popular print media, not to mention the prolific news sources found on the Internet and the overcrowded field occupied by far too many bloggers all jostling elbow-to-elbow for my rapidly diminishing attention span.
Have you noticed over the past decade or so how television, movies, magazines and newspapers glorify the antics of really stupid people? I think the movie Dumb and Dumber opened the floodgates to this trend.

Colombus-Miss. What does a cold, wet five-year-old girl begging in a Ukrainian bus station at night have to do with saving landfills in the United States? How could this little girl’s plight lead to the formation of a charity called Operation Ukraine? The connecting threads are woven in the heart of a woman named Kathy Cadden.
Cadden’s niece and her friend found the little girl when they were in the Ukraine during a church youth mission several years ago. They could not leave the poor child to spend the night in such a dangerous place with temperatures below freezing. Taking the little girl to their room, they fed, washed and clothed her. She said her name was Jenya. The next day Jenya showed them where she lived. They learned her mother frequently locked her out of the house and forced her to beg at the bus station.
Hanoi Jane is backing Barack ObamaBy OnTheWeb Thursday, April 3, 2008
Good news or bad news? Jane Fonda, the anti-war activist that some believe should have been tried for treason for her propaganda efforts on behalf of the North Vietnamese government, told reporters that she backs Barack Obama in the presidential race:
The man who was not thereJane Fonda, the actress and ardent anti-Vietnam war advocate who visited North Vietnam during those hostilities, has endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president.
There were no formal ceremonies for the endorsement. In fact, the Obama campaign may just be learning about the actress’s approval now as word spreads like lit gunpowder via the Internet. …

Some media pundits have tried suggesting that Barack Obama’s recent speech about his association with Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago is comparable to the Gettysburg Address in calling for national “unity.”
But if one parses some key statements by Obama in that speech, one can see how Obama poses more of a threat of creating disunity in America and how he will probably use racism as a vehicle do so.

According to Zimbabwe’s independent newspaper The Zimbabwean, Morgan Tsvangirai has toppled President Robert Mugabe with 58 percent of the popular vote.
Tsvangirai received 467,000 votes to Mugabe’s 300,000 in Saturday’s general elections.

..As “unofficial reports” of massive MDC victory continue to filter….By OnTheWeb Sunday, March 30, 2008
Whispers in groups at street corners, text messages on mobile phones and unconfirmed facts from “reliable” friends and relatives have become the channel for communicating yesterday’s Zimbabwe’s election result.
The message is the same, a huge MDC (Tsvangirai) victory, including in rural areas once considered a Zanu PF stronghold. Voting ended around 1900hrs yesterday and the only national broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), monopolized by Mugabe’s ruling Zanu PF party, announced early today that they will start broadcasting the results in the morning.
It is now well after 1600 hrs and the anxious crowd is still waiting impatiently for the first set of results from the 11, 000 polling stations around the country to be officially announced. Counting at most polling stations is well over.
