The Internet is the world’s biggest recipe book
By Judi McLeod  Saturday, June 21, 2008

imageMillions go online, hunting up recipes when the cooking mood hits.

My favourite printed recipe book is Madame Benoit Cooks at Home, a treasure trove of recipes including her century-old Quebec beans, made with rum and apples.

Even a lunchtime sandwich is a confection in Madame Benoit Cooks at Home.

Outdoor Fire Pits Booming Popularity Comes with a Price
By Online  Wednesday, June 25, 2008

imageFire pits have become the must-buy item for the backyard this season, meanwhile, consumers are oblivious to the negative effects of burning real wood. As the Canada Day long weekend nears, homeowners and cottagers are being reminded they can reduce the heavy environmental price tag that comes from burning real wood by selecting composite fire logs for their summer sanctuaries.

The new Patio Logg with Citronella, being held, burns for as long as about 15 pounds of real wood.

The innovative green conscious product also burns significantly cleaner than wood, cutting particulate matter by 76 per cent, creosote by 66 per cent and ash residue by 86 per cent.  It also cuts carbon monoxide emissions by more than 7 times compared to real wood.
