Black Friday Becomes Bless Friday - From the Pacific Coast to the Gulf Stream Waters

HOUSTON, -- Since 2010, Houston area churches have provided an alternative to frenzied Christmas shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. Continuing this tradition, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC), Beacon of Light Christian Center, St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, St. Francis Episcopal Church, West University Baptist Church, Crosspoint Church and The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, are each scheduling community service projects on Friday, November 28. Also, this year the Christian community in Seattle can join parishioners from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church who will be helping the homeless at the St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle food bank. These churches ask families and individuals to celebrate Bless Friday® as an alternative to Black Friday.

Is Jonathan Gruber the Invisible Man?

If you watched T.V., read the newspapers, or listened to the radio (with the exception of Fox News and conservative talk shows), you'd think that Jonathan Gruber was an invisible man. He's the former ObamaCare consultant (who was paid almost $400,00 and who visited the Oval Office at least 10 times regarding ObamaCare), who said that the Obama Administration purposely mislead (a/k/a lied) about the provisions that were included in ObamaCare in order to get it passed because they felt that the voters were too stupid to understand what a great piece of legislation ObamaCare was.

Girls Raised In The South

Known by all as Miss Lena, Mama was a true Southern lady. She rarely engaged in gossip, but when doing so, she prefaced her comments with, “Bless her heart” or “Bless his heart,” terms Southerners have always used when gossiping.

Apparently Obama knows nothing at all about the economics of Keystone

As Rob told you last week, President Obama is doubling down on two of his most unpopular policies. One is his determination to use executive authority he doesn’t actually have to give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. The other – the one I want to focus on today – is his refusal to approval the Keystone XL pipeline, even though Congress may soon send him a bill that would do that very thing.

Warren misses the point on government overspending

Senator Elizabeth Warren has been making the TV talk show circuit lately, giving her stump speech as her hosts try to carry on a conversation with her. On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Tuesday, November 11, 2014, she was at it again.

Moscow’s Many Misdirections

When Putin met Harper at the G-20 this week, it is said that the Russian leader insisted to the Canadian Prime Minister that there were no Russian troops in the Ukraine. Last week also saw a Moscow television station insisting they had dramatic footage proving that the MH-17 flight downed over the Ukraine last July was actually shot down by a Ukrainian fighter plane; and not by a drunken Cossack in command of a Russian SAM battery.

Climate Reporting Chaos in Oregon

For some reason, I don't find it surprising that Oregon is a hotbed of climate alarmism. Thus, when the Portland Tribune recently published an article describing how Oregon's "warmer climate imperils our health," it seemed appropriate to look further into the claims being made.

EPA’s next regulatory tsunami

Looming Environmental Protection Agency ozone regulations personify the Obama administration’s secrecy, collusion, fraud, and disdain for concerns about the effects that its tsunami of regulations is having on the livelihoods, living standards, health and welfare of millions of American families. Virtually every EPA announcement of new regulations asserts that they will improve human health. Draconian carbon dioxide standards, for example, won’t just prevent climate change, even if rapidly developing countries continue emitting vast volumes of this plant-fertilizing gas. The rules will somehow reduce the spread of ticks and Lyme disease, and protect “our most vulnerable citizens.” It’s hogwash.

EP = a2 Has Killed More People than E=mc2

It’s been said Einstein’s E=mc2 (energy=mass x C speed of light squared) is the world’s most important scientific equation. Unfortunately it created the atomic bomb that killed thousands in World War II. But I believe my equation EP = a2 (extra pounds = atherosclerosis squared) is the world’s important medical equation. Regrettably, it’s killing more millions every year than E=mc2. Think again if you believe this is exaggerated.

The Limited View from the Amman Summit

The hastily-arranged summit in Amman on November 13, 2014 may have given the participants some instant gratification. In the long run, however, it will join the long list of similar summits in Aqaba, Jordan, Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, Washington, DC, and elsewhere that ended with no lasting impact.

Boors

I was at the Woodbine slots on Remembrance Day when everyone was asked to observe the usual two minutes silence at 11am.

It's Time to Save the American Family; A Joyless Experiment Strained to the Limit

While it's true that a Conservative wave just swept the USA in the 2014 elections, the accumulated damage of progressive theory upon the American culture has been nothing short of devastating. The list of areas where Americans are now struggling because of the importation of foreign ideas against American ideals is staggering. The family is probably the most endangered because of the incursion against traditional, biblical and common sense practice. Anti-Americanism has been institutionalized for decades, as a result of creeping Marxism affecting our teachers, instructional materials, and in the minds of the mandarin elites, daily spewing their contempt for tradition into the media, academia, and Hollywood.

Obama Declares an Amnesty War

The same mindset that could conspire to foist ObamaCare on Americans by deception is at work to do the same thing with an unconstitutional, unilateral announcement of amnesty for millions of illegal—oops, “undocumented”—aliens living in America.

SEALs and Usama bin Laden

SEALs and Usama bin Laden
Many in the community are...infuriated, [O'Neill] says. "There's a shitstorm around this." --Rob O'Neill referring to SEALs going public, "The Man Who Killed Osama bin Laden...Is Screwed" "Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday--the next day." --Then Defense Secretary, Robert Gates 5/12/11
