Liberty Alert – March 19, 2012 – Religious Freedom

This past weekend, many of us celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. We enjoyed being Irish for one day of the year. Like many holidays, St. Patrick’s Day has lost its original meaning.

What can one man do alone?

We celebrated New Year's Eve in a large hotel room in Des Moines, Iowa. It was a melancholy night. We were excited to be in the middle of the Iowa Caucus happenings, but some of us had left behind loved ones who we had never been away from on a New Year's Eve. We were looking forward to 2012 with hope that each of us could make a difference some way, some how. We were also concerned that 2012 could be the year that a free American republic would cease to exist.

Merry Christmas and Thank you, George

Today is Christmas and our last daily Christmas song is noted below - Joy to the World. We chose this song because we wanted one that might have been sung by George Washington and his men as they crossed over the Delaware on Christmas night, 1776. Our research shows that this song was sung during those times - History of Joy to the World Imagine that. George was a believer in Christ and put his faith and trust in God. Before he left to row across the Delaware to fight one of the world's largest armies with a band of worn-out, de-motivated patriots, he left behind this message scribbled on a piece of paper -- "Victory or Death." December 7th would be our September 11th

It was my birthday and today I would be 16 years old. The day of passage from a child to a young woman was happening. I was so excited even though I missed my dad who had passed away earlier in the year. His passing had created financial problems for our family so I quit school and went to work in a local cigar factory to help make ends meet. Mom was taking in ironing and my other sisters and one brother all found work to help out at home.

Santa could teach the Post Office a few things!

Traditions

I called my daughter to work out the details of our Thanksgiving weekend. She has a new baby and it appears we may not be able to head out the door at 4:00 AM Friday morning for our traditional outing. We really never buy anything except breakfast and a couple of Starbucks before 10:00 AM yet it has become a tradition for us.

Lessons from The Great Pumpkin

When I was young, the Peanuts comic strip was my favorite and when The Great Pumpkin came on, I hurried to get my bath, put on my PJs, and I would watch it with my sister and brother while eating popcorn and drinking hot chocolate.

4:00 AM Awakenings: They’re Back!

When the Tea Party Movement stirred inside me at the same time it was stirring inside millions of others across this nation, early morning risings became commonplace. A full night’s sleep was impossible to find and 4:00 a.m. awakenings with thoughts of troubling times in my country filled my head. Much like a mother who would feed her baby at 4:00 feedings, I would feed my mind with research to find out the truth about the problems in our country.

Will you be a Bonfire Patriot?

As I waited to board my plane out of DC, the one we were to take landed from Ohio. As the passengers came off the plane and walked past us, I thought I recognized some of them. They had this glassy eyed look; a smug expression; t-shirts with Marxist images; and dirty back packs. I thought, “Where had I seen them before?” I boarded the plane for home and erased it from my head. I had more important things to think about such as getting home to my family and planning our next event for the tea party.

The air is crisp and changes in the weather are welcome. It’s been a hot summer with the weather and with politics, so we are enjoying the real climate change that comes with the seasons.

Take We the People off the Endangered Species List

Before I begin, let me assure everyone reading this that I love animals. We have three dogs, two cats, eight koi, five laying hens and two bird feeders. (Sounds much like a Christmas song doesn’t it) We love animals and we spend a lot of time and money taking care of their needs.

Cain you believe it?

We had to leave Orlando before the totals of the GOP’s Presidency 5 straw ballot were announced. As we drove home, our cells filled up with text messages – Cain Won! -- and calls from home rang out in disbelief. Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, and a low man on the establishment’s radar, exceeded the combined total for Perry who came in second at 15 percent and Romney who came in third at 14 percent. Cain won by a landslide at 37.1% of the votes!

The CEO who wouldn’t listen

Before I was the “crazy, racist, hobbit, tea bagging, loony” tea party member, I was actually a consultant to CEOs. Not everyone will agree with me, but, too bad – “I love CEOs!” I admire the ones I worked with because they were willing to throw everything they had in life to pursue a dream of business ownership. They sold their possessions, mortgaged their homes, ran up their credit cards and borrowed from family members or their friends to pursue their dream.

9/11: Let there be peace on earth, let it begin with me

After 9/11, there was a call out from our leaders to reach out to the Muslim community. It was important that those who murdered 3,000 American citizens were known as radicals from Islam and not the average people of the Muslim community. We made great efforts to include them in ceremonies and President Bush even went to a Mosque one week later on 9/17. He brought them this message:

“If we deny the truth of the Islamic threat, If we chose ignorance, If we allow political correctness to render us mute, If we are blind to Islamic infiltration and propaganda, If we ignore Islamic influences in our education curriculum ... then bid the republic which is ours goodbye.” – David Beamer After a recent blog about the 9/11 attacks, David posted that comment. When we saw his name, we stopped and carefully read his words. It is humbling to listen to this man or to read his words. When David Beamer speaks of the 9/11 attack, we listen. Why?

What Would John Do?

I grew up with Saturday morning cartoons AND 30 minute western shows. You would think because I was a young girl I wouldn’t like westerns but I did. I loved them because the good guy always won and the pretty girl won the good guy! Most westerns would start with a sleepy town going about their business. Women would be walking towards the mercantile to purchase fabric for clothing and men would tip their hat to them as they walked by. The background music would escalate as an unfamiliar man would appear on the dusty road with a black hat and riding a big horse. The men would stare him down and the women would peek from the window to see what was happening.

Don’t let the talking heads or the stock market get you down

Yesterday was rough for Americans. We had the rug pulled out from under us again as our hard earned and hard saved 401(k), pension and IRA dollars were snatched out of our accounts. The stock market took a dive into the deep end of the pool.

Be Wary: This is one crisis that will NOT go to waste

Before we talk about the historic credit rating down grade – let us stop for a moment and pray for the American soldiers who lost their lives last night in Afghanistan. There are hundreds of thousands of families waiting today to hear if their son, daughter, wife, husband, mother or father were among the casualties. When and if they receive a knock on their door, we pray for peace that passes all understanding as they hear the news that will change their lives forever.

The Story of the Parents and the Kids

I knew the kids would not behave. I just knew it. Their past should have told me they would lie again. I just wanted to believe they would change their ways. They would make a promise and say they would be good and we would believe them. We so desperately wanted to believe they would do the right thing. We just couldn’t imagine our kids could turn out like that.
