Why Britain Needs Breitbart UK

Why Britain Needs Breitbart UK
A decade ago, I wrote a Vision Paper detailing why Britain urgently needed a new and specifically editorially conservative online broadcast news or news agency. I did so in the wake of the dramatic success of Fox News in the States.

Syria: Why the Parliament Got It Right—and Congress Got It Wrong

There are two strongly conflicting opinions over taking military action in Syria. And there has been a great deal of muddled thinking caused in part by President Obama's spurious 'redline' over chemical weapon use. But if you think it is simply a matter of hawks v doves think again. It is much more a matter of being true to, and consistent with, the core principles governing conservative thinking as averse to those governing leftist liberal thinking, as I will explain.

Obamanomics, Solyndra and Crony Capitalism

If ever there was a poster child for government ineptitude in picking winners and losers in the marketplace it’s the Solyndra scandal. Perceived by some as ‘yesterday’s story’, Solyndra is still very much news – a self-inflicted wound for the administration and a running sore for US taxpayers. Right now the IRS is fighting a courtroom battle to prevent Solyndra investors from misusing the bankruptcy laws to further sting US taxpayers.

EU Reports Should ‘Green-light’ Shale Revolution

Europe’s reluctance to follow the United States and pursue its own shale gas revolution is well documented. Partly it’s been down to the anti-shale, anti-fracking environmental lobbies having a much stronger political voice in Europe; partly it’s down to the fact that the U.S. had drilled more wells offering greater certainty about the potential of reserves. But a clutch of new reports should finally green-light Europe’s own shale gas revolution. Bu then the EU does have a nasty habit of shooting itself in the political foot.

The Climate Change Racket: Finally a ‘Day in Court’?

It's what we non-alarmists have long wanted: the climate change racket on trial in a court of law. In threatening National Review and its international columnist Mark Steyn with legal action over alleged "defamatory remarks" in his 'Corner' column, inventor of the famously debunked "hockey stick" climate graph, Dr Michael Mann, may have finally bitten off way more than he can legally chew.

Has Russia Sold Out Iran For a Stake in Israeli Gas?

As the tension between Israel and Iran ratchets up, an interesting sub-text has developed over the role of Iran's traditional backer, Russia. While many Western observers continue to raise the spectre of a 'wider Middle East conflagration' (an argument we have consistently refuted), and one that could drag in Russia, a whole new, higher value, game chip is now in play: Moscow's interest in Israeli energy.

Whatever Happened to Peak Oil?

Why are peak oil-ers like Jehovah's Witnesses? Answer: When the definitive JW prediction of the 'Day of Wrath' failed in 1914, they did what false prophets have done in every generation: shifted the goalposts (to 1975 in the case of JW's--and wrong again). It's what false prophets do to save face, enabling them to keep fleecing the inherently gullible. Peak-oilers do likewise.

UK’s Energy Policy ‘Schizophrenia’ Spreads to Europe

Who'd have thought it? The medievalists at Greenpeace have finally made a useful contribution to the energy debate by insisting Britain has two energy policies. They're right. As the ideological fault-line in the UK coalition government is increasingly laid bare by the in-fighting between (Conservative) Chancellor George Osborne's Treasury Department and (Lib Dem) Ed Davey's Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the signs are that a new economic energy realism is also biting in Europe.

Debunking the Great Carbon Tax Hype

With global temperatures flat-lining for 15 years, climate alarmist arguments are looking far more fragile than the earth's (actually robust) eco-system. Of late, climate activists of all ideological shades have thus attempted to posit a "third way" between the "extremes" of interminable left-right, alarmist-sceptic arguments.

Irony of Ironies: Europe Switches to Coal as US Gas Switch Drives Down Emissions

Here’s a tester for you. Which raft of energy policies gets proven ‘greener’ results? Is it the anti-fossil fuel, cap-and-trade regulatory regimes of socialist Europe? Or is it the path of technological innovation set by the ‘evil’ capitalists in the Kyoto-eschewing Bush White House? In what has to be the irony of ironies, Europe’s consumption of coal grew by 3.3 percent in 2011.

The End of OPEC Despotism

The tectonic plates of Middle East politics are shifting fast. Egypt’s Arab spring may have run into the sand of anti-democratic Islamism, but the days when oil-rich Arab sheikhs colluded to hold Western economies to ransom will soon end. Massive shale oil and gas discoveries across the West, Israel’s rising status as a Middle East energy powerhouse and a deepening internal rift over strategic policy are all colluding to hasten OPEC’s demise.

Fracking The Movie(s)

Forget wind power. Forget solar. Forget renewable energy. The release of the natural gas industry's Truthland documentary is further confirmation of where the real frontline in the energy v environment debate lies: the technique of hydraulic fracturing 'fracking'--the process that has opened up a whole new global hydrocarbon energy frontier. And the same technique that is currently transforming America's dependency on foreign energy imports and its manufacturing industries.

Obama’s LOST Legacy: a new world order

So who cares if Obama wants, as part of his legacy, to do what Ronald Reagan refused to do and sign up the United States to LOST, the UN’s Law of the Sea Treaty? Well if you are a small government, liberty-loving American, or citizen anywhere in the free world, you should. Here’s why.

Why the EU Airline Tax Won’t Fly

China has already cancelled orders for 35 European Airbus A330 jets, and is threatening to cancel on 10 more. India has just banned its airlines from submitting any carbon emission data by the EU's March 31 deadline. In February, the two Asian giants, along with 21 other countries including the United States, signed up to the Moscow Declaration, a strategic blueprint for global trade 'war'. It has a single aim: to make sure the EU's Airline Tax never gets off the ground.

Iran and the Oil Scarcity Myth

UN-style diplomacy and sanctions aren't working. In truth, they never had a chance. Tehran's breakneck pace toward nuclear development--a program which, as the IAEA confirms, goes way beyond what is necessary for domestic use--has set the agenda. The Israelis are realists. They know the nuclear end game with Iran is fast approaching.

The Great Evangelical Disaster Revisited

imageJust a quick note to let you know about a couple of e-books I have just had published. "The Great Evangelical Disaster Revisited" and "Power Politics: The Inside Track on Energy (the world's most important resource)" are both available - at ridiculously low prices!! - from all e-bookstores. And here's a link to the Amazon Kindle page. The first book is my chief reason for writing this note as it takes Schaeffer's concern about 'super-spirituality' and point out what issues actually kick-started the Protestant Reformation (and its not what you may think!) - indeed every church revival in history! Here's the PR description that appears at the stores.

And here's what just a sample of what to expect as per the PR blurb... Power Politics delivers the inside track on energy in a series of hard-hitting, fact-filled, insightful articles. Power Politics reveals that pretty much everything we have been told about energy just isn’t true. The book shows:

Fuelling the Rise of the Anglosphere

James C. Bennett's The Anglosphere Challenge claimed that 'the English-speaking nations will lead the way in the twenty-first century'. Bennett's contention was that the cultural values endemic across what he termed the 'Anglosphere' economies would, via the influence of the Internet's information highway, prove to be the Next Big Idea.

Greek Debt Crisis Exposes Green Subsidies Scam

If the debt crisis is a tragedy for the people of Greece, the EUs bailout attempts look increasingly comedic. A second bailout, worth ‚€130 billion ($171 billion), is currently under negotiation to enable Greece to stump up €14.5 billion ($19.1 billion) by the March 20 deadline to avoid defaulting on its bond repayments.
