Erik Rush and Jim Garrow

Crossing the Divide is the effort of a black American and a white Canadian to cross color, cultural, and sociopolitical lines, as well as those that reinforce ignorance of how things really work in our world. Erik Rush is a New York-born columnist, author and speaker who writes sociopolitical commentary for numerous online and print publications. In February of 2007, Erik was the first to break the story of President (then Senator) Barack Obama’s ties to militant Chicago preacher Rev. Jeremiah Wright on a national level, which ignited a media firestorm that smolders to this day. His latest book, “Negrophilia: From Slave Block to Pedestal ~ America’s Racial Obsession,” examines the racist policies by which the political left keeps black Americans in thralldom, white Americans guilt-ridden and yielding, and maintains the fallacy that America remains an institutionally racist nation. Muslim, Mahdi, or Anti-Christ?

It should come as no surprise to those of us who read classic literature that those who make pacts with the devil eventually meet with desolation. Daniel Webster understood this, as do many preachers who stand in their pulpits and proclaim that you cannot enjoy the avails of sin for long; the pleasures, though real, are short-lived, and judgment always follows.

I suck at math

“There are three kinds of people in this world. Those who are good at math, and those who aren't.” As someone who has had a lifetime hate-hate relationship with mathematics, who was once near to tears and ready to give up on a degree over one mere advanced math requirement, I readily identify with those right-brainers who struggle with the subject. Such deficiencies, if you will, can present real barriers to academic and professional success. But in the real world, when difficult things present themselves, one just has to man up and do what’s necessary, even if it means swallowing one’s pride and enlisting a tutor, for example.

The Girly Man and the Sheriff

The day that Ronald Reagan took office in 1981, Islamist revolutionary kidnappers released prisoners that they’d held for over 444 days in the US embassy in Iran. Although it has not yet been verified through documentation, in a private conversation with a Reagan speech writer I was told that Reagan warned the Ayatollah Khomeini that he would nuke Mecca if the captives were not released the day he took office.

Con Game Extraordinaire

One of the sorest subjects amongst conservatives in America is its public education system. In addition to being an ineffectual government bureaucracy, its educational model was crafted by dedicated Marxist elites in the eastern US, and had supplanting the family as one of its objectives as far back as the 1950s.

The Medium is the Message, Cowboy

American political news junkies and observers have been having a great time with the speech given by legendary film star and director Clint Eastwood at the Republican National Convention on August 30. As one might expect, most Republicans and conservatives found it to be a stellar and straightforward indictment of American president Barack Obama.

China’s New Shadow Government, Cash for Organs, and the Threat to America

The scandal surrounding China’s former Chongqing Committee Secretary Bo Xilai isn’t the sort of thing the average American news consumer would have initially found terribly interesting, since scandals in governments around the world occur on a regular basis. Add in the fact that press coverage in the West was essentially the party line communicated by the Chinese government, and one has a fairly dull, cut and dried account indeed. The story also didn’t appear to possess the lurid qualities that Americans have been conditioned by the press to expect in “newsworthy” material.
