We Still Need the Tea Party!

Flashback to early-2009: The US was in the first one hundred days of the Barack Obama presidency. Many Americans already knew what to expect in the coming four (or eight) years. Others may have voted for President Obama hoping for the best but not realizing the kind of damage that he would be able to inflict upon our nation.

The Great GOP Divide

Tax Day April 15th 2009, I attended my first Tea Party event held on the front lawn of the State House in Columbus, Ohio. Only a couple of months into the Obama administration, the Tea Party movement was in its infancy. At the time, it did not even have an official name. But it was a Tea Party event nonetheless with hundreds of people congregating in a chilly Ohio rain to listen to, among others, then-aspiring Gov. John Kasich speak.

Obama: The First Six Years

Obama: The First Six Years
Dear President Obama, I do not know if you are astute enough to recognize it. But, when you were elected president in 2008, you were given an extraordinary opportunity that very few individuals throughout the course of human history had been given. As America’s first African-American president, you had the chance to be recognized as an exemplary leader of true vision, a statesman par excellence. Indeed, your name might have come to be associated with great historical leaders such as Lincoln (to whom you like to compare yourself), King, Churchill, Washington and others. Indeed, you could have been America’s “great uniter”.

What Liberals Think

What Liberals Think
I know, that’s a good one, isn’t it? As a conservative, it is impossible to get inside the mind of a liberal. But think about it for a minute. What makes these people tick? What makes a person believe in every kind of cockamamie idea known to man – and profess these ideas as gospel? The even bigger question is this: How can a reasonably well-educated person fall lockstep into an ideology that supports everything from abortion-on-demand to policies that allow every Tom, Dick & Harry to vote without verifying their identity?

Liberal Hypocrisy: The ACLU and Gun Owners’ Rights

Ask just about any conservative about hypocrisy on the part of liberals and it is a pretty sure bet that he or she could provide you with many examples. Just this week, we saw the brouhaha that resulted when Al Gore sold his Current TV network to the Arab news organization Al Jazeera. Gore’s sale to a group with ties to Middle Eastern oil is laughable when taken in the context of his years-long vendetta against American oil interests over the burning of fossil fuels.

Marketing Conservatism Revisited

In early-2011, I wrote an article which I entitled “Marketing Conservatism”. In it, I described the problems that conservatives (Republicans) have historically encountered getting their message across to non-conservatives.

Thank You, President Obama!

I feel as though I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to President Obama. A great deal has taken place over the past four years – not just within our country but all around the world. Our nation’s unemployment rate has averaged nearly nine percent over that span of time. We have seen a steady rise in the price of most of our everyday consumer goods such as gasoline and food.

Recognizing Greatness

Throughout history, great people have come and great people have gone. Like all people, they are born and they die. In the history of mankind, there have been countless people whom others have described as "great". Greatness is a rather general concept, but the term is typically bestowed upon individuals that have made a positive impact upon the lives of large numbers of people.

A Plea to My Fellow Conservatives

Dear fellow conservatives, Well, it is the end of April; just over six months until election day. Arguably THE most important and potentially pivotal election in the history of our great nation. From all indications, it would appear that the stage is set and that the final combatants will be President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney facing off against one another.

For the Love of Government

The soul group, the O’Jays, had a string of hits throughout the 1970s. Songs such as "Backstabbers" and "Love Train" were staples of Top 40 radio of the time and the O'Jays enjoyed phenomenal success for a number of years. They released their hit song “For the Love of Money” in 1973. The song is easily identifiable by the rhythmic chant, "Money, money, money, money – MONEY!" For 2012, the liberal group, the O’Bamas, have re-released the tune. The lyrics have changed and the title is now “For the Love of Government”.

Obama’s “Stairway to Heaven”

Think back to your first record player (come to think of it, I guess you must be at least forty if you even know what a record player is). Your parents probably bought it for you and, if you’re like me, you got one record to play on it – at least at first. You were in hog heaven; you could play your favorite song over and over again. But do you remember what happened after a while? Even though you loved the song, you soon grew tired of hearing only it.

Degenerative Economic Disorder and Obamalude

Prescription drug: Obamalude. Manufactured and distributed by the Democrat Pharmacological Corporation. It has been widely prescribed to treat a condition known as Degenerative Economic Disorder. Political physicians diagnosed the United States with Degenerative Economic Disorder in 2008 and the nation, almost immediately, began crying for treatment with Obamalude.

“Greening” Us Back to the Stone Age

In 1965, with regard to the war in Viet Nam, Air Force General Curtis LeMay was mistakenly quoted as saying that we should, "...bomb them (the North Vietnamese) back to the Stone Age." According to LeMay, he actually stated that the US had the capability to bomb the North Vietnamese back to the Stone Age. Regardless of its origins, the phrase, in one form or another, has become sort of a part of wartime vernacular and has been used by pro-war, anti-terrorist fanatics with regard to Afghanistan.

Weaning Us Off of Food?

In a column this week (March 13th), Chuck Norris took the Obama administration to task for the run-up in gas prices: It is no secret that average gasoline prices have more than doubled since President Obama was inaugurated in 2009. Except for a few slight declines, the overall trend in gas prices over the past three years has been upward.

Of Sandwich Cookies and Deficit Dollars

This week, the venerable Oreo cookie celebrated its one hundredth birthday. The delicious little sandwich cookie first burst upon the scene on March 6th, 1912. Just about everyone has heard of Oreos, few people have not eaten them, and the term “Oreo” is synonymous with snacking – albeit not terribly healthy snacking.

“Intellectual Enlightenment” and Liberalism

Tom Chivers of the UK Telegraph, in a recent column, made the statement that, if a Republican wins the White House this November, science will lose. Mr. Chivers tries to make the case that conservatives, in general, do not share the same level of “enlightenment” possessed by liberals. This extreme level of condescension that typifies liberals is one that has been with us for a very long time. But what exactly makes liberals think that they have a monopoly on enlightenment?

You’re NOT Alone!

Do you shake your head in amazement every time you hear news reports that indicate that President Obama's approval ratings are somewhere near fifty percent? Do you find yourself asking, "Exactly WHO are these fifty percent?" If so, you're not alone.

Are Democrats Your Friends?

With the close of 2011 and the dawn of 2012, the Obama administration is trying to portray the president as a "warrior for the middle class".
