I’m sure no one is terribly surprised at the recent revelations that the much-hyped “Affordable” “Care” Act was passed on the basis of lies and deceit. Or as its architect, economist Jonathan Gruber gleefully told a group of health economists, ignorance afforded a political advantage and the bill was passed because of “the stupidity of the American voter.”

Keeping out Ebola

Here’s an interesting tidbit: Sierra Leone accuses Canada of discrimination over the suspension of visa applications for residents of nations currently hit with large outbreaks of Ebola. The nerve!

The Multicult's bitter harvest

When Trudeau père sold Canadians the conceit of multiculturalism as a workable societal foundation, most people eagerly bought in. After all, what harm can there be in turning the drab Canadian mangia cake uniformity into a colorful, # multinational quilt? The upside includes wondrous, redolent, zesty foods; quaint customs and celebrations that turn the old homogeneity into a vibrant heterogeneous stew of warmth and mutual respect.

It’s interesting to note that the Democrats are attempting to use the global warming/climate change “crisis” to divert attention from the many other crises for which they are responsible. It’s like that cheap carney magician pulling yards of silk out of his sleeve after making a rabbit disappear into his hat.

Have you heard the one about the Rabbi, the Imam and the fat chick? Me neither. In fact, it’s been so long since I’ve heard a good joke that I almost forgot what it feels like to laugh. It seems this is somewhat of a universal experience, as many of my friends and acquaintances have similar plaints.

It has EVERYTHING to do with Islam

Last Thursday morning as Colleen Hufford arose and readied for work, her thoughts very likely were on the day ahead, things needing to be done, realizing that tomorrow would be Friday and maybe even thinking up weekend plans with her grandchildren. Little did she know that she was en route to becoming another statistic, a sticking point in the manic affirmations of America’s leaders that her death, like so many before hers, “had nothing to do with Islam.”

America officially recognized as a Third World basket case

Over the past several months we’ve heard a lot about American corporations engaging in “inversions” as a tax saving strategy. The latest in this long line is the proposed merger of Burger King with Canada’s Tim Horton’s doughnut chain and relocating its head office in Oakville, Ontario, where Tim Horton’s is based. Predictably, the Democrats are seriously peeved, calling these companies “greedy” and “unpatriotic.”

A legacy of failure

Back during the 2008 presidential campaign a lot of conservatives predicted that if Obama were elected president his administration would amount to Jimmy Carter’s second term. Little did anyone at the time realize just how prescient those predictions turned out to be.

Whether the You Tube beheading of American journalist James Foley by ISIS terrorists was a brilliant stroke of propaganda or a tactical blunder sure to backfire, is really quite irrelevant. Of much greater relevance is the fact that ISIS is a construct of American government policy that has left a huge vacuum in the balance of power around the world and specifically the Middle East.

Trickle down penury

An interesting news item caught my attention a couple of weeks back. Apparently the Canadian middle class has surpassed the American middle class in economic standing. According to a NY Times analysis, after-tax income of middle class Canadians has now surpassed that of America’s middle class, which purportedly makes Canada’s middle class the wealthiest in the world.

RIP free speech in America

Let’s say this right at the outset: Donald Sterling, current owner of the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team is a creepy-weird racist and I do not share his sentiments. Having said that, I am outraged at his lynching.

The affirmative action presidency

When Richard Nixon, among other things, attempted to use the IRS to punish his enemies, the eventual outcome was a Congressional push for impeachment. A Senate trial actually never took place because Nixon resigned before impeachment was voted on. When Bill Clinton steadfastly declared that he “did not have sex with that woman,” he was impeached. What does Barack Obama have to do to have impeachment proceedings initiated?

One of the hallmarks of the Obama administration is that it is among the most corrupt administrations in living memory.

One of my college professors back in the ‘60s told me the penultimate difference between capitalism and socialism was that under capitalism man exploited man, while under socialism it was exactly the other way around.

Losers

Anyone looking for further evidence that America’s Republican Party, the party of Lincoln, has devolved into a sorry collection of losers need merely reference what just transpired in the House of Representatives. After adamantly insisting that no continuing resolution would happen without some changes to the Affordable Care Act, (aka “ObamaCare”) the party caved and gave the Democrats everything they wanted in the form of a “clean” bill.

Give the Dems the rope with which to hang themselves

I applaud Senator Cruz for his courageous and principled stand on attempting to defund the So-called “Affordable Care Act,” or ObamaCare, the name by which most people know this monstrosity. I feel the same way about the House of Representatives for its conduct toward a similar end. But I think that Republicans, both in the Senate and the House, have clearly demonstrated their opposition to Obama’s train wreck and maybe it’s time to back off the efforts to stop the law and let it take effect.

Putin’s take not all wrong

The outrage expressed by so many American politicians about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s op-ed in the New York Times is an interesting exercise in speciousness, given that much of what the Russian president wrote is factually correct.

A political CYA

Being a practicing opportunist, President Obama’s prognostications about attacking Syria for crossing his “red line” on the use of chemical weapons, is nothing more than an attempt to increase the value of his stock using America’s military to do so.

Hey, American voters, you’re stupid!

The cynicism and contempt with which President Obama and the Democrats hold the American people is downright criminal. The latest move by the White House postponing full implementation of the Obamacare small business mandate amounts to an admission that the so-called Affordable Care Act (ACA) will have a huge negative impact on the American economy. In short, the ACA will neither be affordable nor will it have much to do with “care.”

The slow slide into dictatorship

A few months back Fox News’ Alan Colmes commented to the effect that anyone who sees a parallel between pre-WWII Germany and Obama’s America is in dire need of psychiatric help. Most people (and I think Alan Colmes in particular) don’t understand that Hitler’s rise to power came at the behest of German voters, who were swayed by the scapegoating and blaming of Germany’s problems on Jews and duplicitous Communists. Hitler’s rise to absolute power came about quite legally through a series of laws passed through the Reichstag, Germany’s then parliament. Ultimately those laws established the National Socialist (NAZI) party (note the word “socialist”) as the only legal political party in Germany by 1934.
