Be careful what you ask for

Be careful what you ask for: you might get it. This kernel of homespun wisdom needs to be driven full-force into the forehead of Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, the Prime Minister who worked so exuberantly to have U.S. Forces leave his country. His belief Iraqi forces could shoulder the self-defense responsibilities of his nation were not quite up to snuff. Al-Maliki forgot it’s against Islamic Law for Muslims to wage war against Muslims unless they gain counseling from more militant, fundamentalist Imams saying it’s okay.

Not by their commandment

Eric Cantor, House Majority Leader had his head handed to him by a neophyte “Tea Party Candidate” in last night’s Republican primary.

LT. Botox Blunders Again

Whenever I have a problem finding an idea for a column, I wait for either Obama or the great rectum, John Kerry to say something I can challenge. We understand Obama’s basic incompetence and lack of command presence other than to brand anything he finds remotely critical of his administration is either racist or partisan politics in his mind. Both are Alinskyist tactics to deflect anybody from recognizing the criticism is correct.

The Storm

In this matter as to whether Bowe Bergdahl is a deserter, a traitor or a flower child seeking to spread American goodness and light to Afghan Taliban operatives after field stripping his M-4 and taking moonlit walks into Taliban infested country so he can find a spot to meditate; I must admit the jury is still out for me. I say it’ll all come out after a highly classified investigation is conducted by Obama’s Army. I expect the administration will keep trying to dodge the bullet as to why Obama unilaterally and without Congressional consultation chose to let the moral equivalency of Eisenhower, Patton, Omar Bradley, Ulysses S. Grant and William Tecumseh Sherman out of Guantanamo to direct Taliban and Al Qaeda operations across the globe.

It’s not so hard and it’s true as I see it!

I awoke this morning with the same feeling I have every day. I thank my God for the chance to try and get it right one more time. Which is not to say I have a gilded track record for “getting it right” in many prior cases. I mean I’ve had my day and then suffered the penalty of darkness because I got it all wrong. Many times I got it wrong because adults changed the rule in mid-stream and wondered why I just couldn’t get it right.

Loopholes

Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. (Alexis de Tocqueville) Today, in the world we cobbled together after World War 2, we’re watching the passing of what’s been called “The Greatest Generation”. That generation is composed of people who were the children of pioneers and innovators fully into the development of a maturing nation. These people of this generation inherited a common perspective devoted to understanding and being committed to the hard work that endeavor required.

MY WTF moment

Anybody on the planet not recognizing I despise Beaurat Obama either lives under a rock or is directly related to Howard Dean and assuredly showing the fractured DNA separates him from other Homo sapiens.

It took a long time

“Climate Change”, formerly “Global Warming”, is regularly and seriously debated as being real or imaginary, imminently dangerous and a boondoggle in general. Such is the effect of politics trying to guide science.

The Hedge of Thorns

I was reading my Bible the other day and came across this passage in Proverbs (15:19): “The way of the slothful man is as a hedge of thorns; but the way of the righteous is made plain”.

Culture?

n 1. the total of the inherited ideas, beliefs, values, and knowledge, which constitute the shared bases of social action 2. the total range of activities and ideas of a group of people with shared traditions, which are transmitted and reinforced by members of the group: the Mayan culture 3. a particular civilization at a particular period 4. the artistic and social pursuits, expression, and tastes valued by a society or class, as in the arts, manners, dress, etc 5. the enlightenment or refinement resulting from these pursuits 6. the attitudes, feelings, values, and behaviour that characterize and inform society as a whole or any social group within it: yob culture 7. the cultivation of plants, esp by scientific methods designed to improve stock or to produce new ones (World English Dictionary -2014) A film critic took Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen to task for helping to create a culture responsible for the Isla Vista shooter’s action. Aside from the absurdity of blaming individuals for the actions of a single mentally and emotionally challenged individual it causes societies lesser intelligentsia to demonize guns again and scream a question I learned long ago has no answer: why?

No good deed goes unpunished

It’s immaterial when the VA Scandal started; under Beaurat Obama, Herbert Hoover or Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The damned thing is a product of a progressive, socialist agenda to heal the world’s ills through federal government intervention. Or, is it interference?

From distancing to disengaging

Synonyms for distance: coldness, aloofness, detachment, reserve, remoteness, space, expanse, void, vastness, gap, dissociate, separate, detach, avoid Synonyms for disengage: undo, unfasten, untie, uncouple, free, extricate, separate The above describes Obama in all ways, shapes, forms and realities as it applies to his feelings toward the American people and America in general. To say he is a person operative on a self-satisfying level is obvious. To say he displays a specific coldness to the people placed him in office is apparent. To say he is aloof to the pain suffered by those having lost loved ones to terrorists and assassins really goes without the need to say it.

War by Wordcraft

Verbicide: 1. the willful distortion or depreciation of the original meaning of a word. 2.a person who willfully distorts the meaning of a word. Quotes: “Life and language are alike sacred. Homicide and verbicide --that is, violent treatment of a word with fatal results to its legitimate meaning, which is its life--are alike forbidden”. -- Oliver Wendell Holmes, "The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table," The Atlantic Monthly, 1857 “Men often commit verbicide because they want to snatch a word as a party banner, to appropriate its' selling quality'”. -- C.S. Lewis, Studies in Words, 1960

Out of control

So; Obama first learned about the Veterans Affairs debacle in the news like everybody else; again. Obama is incompetent to be president.

Some gave all (and deserve better)

The term "bureaucracy" is French in origin, and combines the French word bureau – desk or office – with the Greek word “Adhocracy”.

Speaking kindly

I decided I’d attend a soiree hosted by a very good friend running for a judgeship in Baton Rouge. I normally don’t get involved with people too much. I spent too many years working in law enforcement to not recognize many people seeking my counsel were looking for loopholes in the law and I don’t really care for the idea of being used. But this was different for me.

Low-hanging fruit

One of the major things fell into my hand lately (in the sense of debatable low-hanging fruit) was Chuck “The Schmuck” Schumer believing he’s intelligent enough to slaughter the Constitution by modifying it and gutting the First Amendment. This is because he finds free speech to be untenable and as such must be curbed lest he be restricted from destroying what this country stands for. Freedom of speech (in the sense of campaign finance) exposes his efforts to turn this nation into a poorly defined but fully operative replication of a totalitarian state. But he’s specifically worried because his liberal, millionaire (billionaire?) contributors are being matched by conservative billionaires.

Parlor Games

In the old days, pre-1900s, the main way people of means showed their taste and educational development (and thus their social superiority) was to sponsor “get-togethers” and topical lectures conducted by the primary theorists of the day. The theorists could be social, medical and possibly philosophical based; but they were the social darlings of the age. It was in this manner the speakers and specialists gained notoriety and financial sponsorship from their benefactors. I think of them as Parlor Games.

Board games

Stratego ® is a strategy based board game for two players. Each player controls pieces representing individual officers (commanders) and soldiers in an army. The objective is to find and capture the opponent's Flag, or capture enough enemy pieces so the opponent can’t make further moves. Players can’t see each other’s pieces, so disinformation and discovery are important facets contributing to the conduct of gameplay. (Wikipedia 2014)
