WASHINGTON, -- Today, the Supreme Court of the United States gave Matt & Melanie Capobianco a partial victory in Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl in ruling that the Indian Child Welfare Act does not apply where an Indian parent never had custody of the Indian child. According to the Court, "Biological Father's contrary reading of ยง1912(f ) is non-sensical" as "...he had never had legal or physical custody of Baby Girl..." The Justices rightly decided to reverse the judgment of the South Carolina Supreme Court and remand the case back for further proceedings "not inconsistent with this opinion."

US State Department Acknowledges China’s Sex-Trade Caused by Their One-Child Policy—Says Nothing

WASHINGTON, -- The US State Department yesterday released its yearly, "Trafficking in Persons Report." China received an automatic downgrade to the lowest ranking, Tier 3, for being a destination country for sex-trafficking. The State Department acknowledged the one-child policy as the "key source of demand" for sex-trafficking and forced prostitution within the country, but remained silent regarding the abolition of the harmful policy in its list of policy recommendations for China.

Supreme Court Denies Review of Colorado ‘Gruesome Images’ Ban

WASHINGTON, -- Thomas More Society's petition for review of a Colorado Court of Appeals decision upholding an injunction against pro-lifers' display of "gruesome images" outside a Denver church was denied yesterday by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court Justices gave no reason for refusing to hear the appeal, Scott v. St. John's Church of the Wilderness (No. 12-1077). Four Justices' votes are needed to hear appeals.
