Whose Fault are Faults ?

Really, that’s a serious question. And, moreover, if a fault-line snaps, who’s to blame and or compensate for any consequences of such faulting faults?

If you are nowhere near a fault – you may be excused from reading any further – I wouldn’t want you feel responsible for any fault, or have any faults, or whatsoever. :

A Second Coming?

Old style typewriterEver seen one of those machines as in the picture above? If so, you either were visiting a museum – or are born a long time ago. Actually, I typed many pages, including my scientific theses on a similar device. This kind of old-tech appears to be making a come-back. At least that’s what the Daily Mail reports from the British government facility Whitehall. The reason is a fear of potential (electricity) blackouts this coming winter.

The “Man in the Moon”

NASA’s new Artemis-1 Moon rocketPerhaps the fabled creature ought to be renamed to  “Man on the Moon” instead of “Man in the Moon ( Man in the Moon ) .” I think your know what I’m referring to: After a 50-year absence from the Earth’s lovely Moon, there is a new attempt by the USA (and other countries), to send a rocket and, a few years later, actually some people to the Moon. NASA’s new Artemis-1 Moon rocket is certainly impressive but it’s just thought of as a stepping stone to a futuristic landing of astronauts (again) on the Moon and, in the more distant future, on Planet Mars.

Dear Cousins Sam (in Shubenacadie, NS) and Phil (in Punxsutawney, PA)

Dear Cousins Sam (in Shubenacadie, NS) and Phil (in Punxsutawney, PA)I'll confess, my Dearest, Wilhemina, and I slept in this morning – blame it on the great party last night at our neighbours in the woods of Ontario. Even our kids and grandchildren enjoyed it well past the latter ones' normal slumber time. We live in "Denmark" now

Suppressing Your Immune System

Suppressing Your Immune SystemIn the "Hamilton Spectator" newspaper of Thursday (Jan. 21, 2022), on p.3, a nearly full page article by Joanna Frketich, had the headline "Hamilton hospitals out of key COVID drug." Its second paragraph read: "For at least two weeks, there has been almost no access to tocilizumab, which suppresses the overreaction of the immune system that often causes severe illness in COVID patients. ..."

We Need Answers To These Questions, Minister Elliott

We Need Answers To These Questions, Minister Elliott Dear Minister Elliott, Many of Ontario’s citizens are increasingly anxious about the – apparently never ending—restrictions of their former activities and undertakings to earn a living. No doubt, you are aware of such strains on our lives – all due to the government’s COVID-19 (plus “variants’) restrictions. To be blunt, a few monetary concessions, while they may be felt as a welcome lifeline to a few, are hardly more than a few drops of water on a hot stone. What is urgently needed is a wholly new approach by the Health Ontario Ministry to this pandemic conundrum. Let me explain:

Helium – from Abundance to Scarcity

ThunderbirdIt's been a few years since I wrote my (2016) post about the "noble gas" helium. Needless to say, the overall response was not exactly "uplifting." Furthermore, my conclusion then was: "Therefore, instead of wasting this resource on zeppelins and blimps, I surmise that helium would better be reserved for its important medical and technical applications, even if it means that "Santa's Elves may have to wait a bit longer for the material to build the children's toys."

Spelunking on Mars

Spelunking on MarsWell, the term "spelunking" may not be quite right here, so let me correct it to "surviving." Presumably you know already about the great drive to have mankind settle on planet Mars. (Supposedly, as some folks claim, planet Earth will become inhabitable, sometime, in the very distant future (many thousands or even millions of years from now). While that prediction may come true, I've yet to see any such futuristic "scenario" for Mars or other heavenly bodies that are on the "hot-list" wanting to move away from Earth.

Will the Goose be cooked?

Will the Goose be cooked? The Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) is abundant on this continent, especially in Canada. In recent decades they have even become some sort of nuisance. Between a high fertility rate, few natural predators, and lots of city folks feeding them in winter, many decided to forgo the long-distance migrations to warmer climes when winter approached. That also removed the need to travel north again in spring, giving the local population a head-start on multiplying and expanding their range.

A National Emergency

A National EmergencyCOVID restrictions are rapidly falling by the way-side, except for, can you imagine, the operations of STRIP-JOINTS. I know it’s hard to believe—but true nonetheless. Many folks have been waiting patiently, 15 months or so for such novel freedoms. You can soon get a (legal) haircut (by appointment only), or get your toe nails clipped before they approach some new Guinness Book-of-Records size -- all welcome manifestations of “post-pandemic” normalcy of life.

When will these "COVID-Vaccines" become APPROVED?

When will these The mainstream media (radio, TV, newspapers) are full of reports of the successes of COVID-19 "vaccines" in reducing the number of new "cases" here and in many other jurisdictions. However, to this date none of those "mRNA-type vaccines" (like from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Novavax) and, perhaps, other manufacturers/providers) have received an unequivocal "stamp of approval" by any government entity (e.g., the U.S. Centers for Disease Control [CDC] and U.S. Food and Drug Administration [FDA]), or by Canada, or by Europe’s EMA (European Medicines Agency).

Undeniable fact: “Carbon Dioxide” is NOT a “pollutant” but a Giver of Life

Dear Prime Minister, Presumably, you’ve welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling on the “carbon tax”. It never fails to amaze me how “climate change” is being equated with “carbon dioxide” (commonly referred to simply as “carbon”) or even termed “carbon pollution.” In fact, carbon dioxide (chemical symbol “CO2”) is the substance that is absolutely vital for all life on Earth!

Dear Cousins Punxsutawney Phil and Wiarton Willy,

Greetings from the sea-side of Nova Scotia -- long time “No See!” Actually, I don’t even remember meeting you at all – ever. Being much younger, I was just a baby when we may have met. But now, I’m a fully grown adult “Nova Scotian.” Not that I particularly like this terminology but life is what it is. Also, I trust you and yours are well, etc., etc. Moreover, I hope you know what important date this is – February 2nd, mid-winter, aka GROUNDHOG DAY!

More Evidence – of Water on Mars

As some of my valued Dear Readers may have become accustomed, every once in a while I’ll have some (mostly irreverent) posts on that Martian thing. What made me chuckle today was the cartoon of the series on “Speed Bump(s)” by cartoonist Dave Coverly.

The Meaningless Meaning of 'COVID Cases'

The Meaningless Meaning of 'COVID Cases'COVID-19 here and COVID-19 there.  Each day, we're bombarded (I'd say ad nauseam) with reports and news of more COVID-19 "cases," whatever that term means. You'd think that this term would be well defined, here, there and everywhere. I wish you luck in finding a standard, generally accepted definition of it. If you succeed, please let me know. But, don't despair, there's a cure for it. Big Pharma is "on the case."

Fall 'sheds' of antlers turns into beautiful artwork

Fall 'sheds' of antlers turns into beautiful artworkDear Readers, this is not about your backyard shed where you may store implements for other seasons of the years, either gone by or yet to come. Rather, it's about the shed antlers of deer and moose that you may find while wandering around in the boreal forests of this continent. This is about some of the ungulates (hoofed animals) that you may see in the forests. There are three main groups of ungulates, namely those without any "head-ornament" (like horses), one with horns (like cattle and goats), and another with antlers (like deer and moose). In contrast to the horns of sheep, goats, or cattle that are permanently growing, the antlers of deer, elk, and moose grow anew each spring/summer season and are "shed" in the following winter.

Which is going to die first – corona virus fever or climate change?, Cui bono--who benefits from this globalist scheme

The news is dire and, in some ways getting worse. There are more reported "cases" of corona virus infections every day and, as of late, more "climate change" alarmism, sometimes in the same breath. Government entities around the world have prescribed draconian measures to curtail individual freedoms of all kinds, like assembly and movement, like voicing opinions and more.  All of that solely in the name of fighting the COVID-19 (CV-19) virus.

A Lack of useful Information

A Lack of useful InformationIt really upsets me when I hear on radio or see on TV newscasts some groups of people dutifully “disinfecting” whole streets by spraying them with “disinfectants” of one kind or another. Of course, washing hands is always a good first step. And the health authorities’ advice in that regard is certainly good, like the information at Canada’s website shown nearby.

Pandemic Pandemonium Panic Poker

Pandemic Pandemonium Panic PokerThe sky is falling, Chicken Little said so. And Foxy Loxy is licking his lips in anticipation. COVID-19 virus is nearly everywhere, "City Killer" asteroids are whizzing by earth, apparently at increasing frequency and a few million miles closer day by day, the oceans are said to be rising by leaps and bounds, and the atmosphere supposedly is getting warmer every summer.
