A Little Past Due Love for Cousin Glen

As a 9 or 10 year old, my knowledge of the situation was limited. Therefore, I can not pass judgment on the adults. I do not know what was done or not done to rescue my cousin Glen, a little boy who was severely abused by his mom, my late aunt Bummie (a nickname). My dad threatened to report Aunt Bummie to the authorities and warned her, “Do not physically discipline my kids.”

Lloyd vs the Bitter Orange Tree: Round Two

For years I allowed an orange tree that yielded awful bitter fruit to take up space in my backyard. Finally, it dawned on me to cut it down and replace it with a tree that would yield sweet oranges. The bitter orange tree became a metaphor for all the useless negative distractions and nasty people I tolerated and tried to please.

Bombshell: Darrell Issa has evidence that Elijah Cummings was selecting Lois Lerner's targets himself

You may recall an incident about a month ago, where House Oversight Committee chairman Representative Darrell Issa cut the power to ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings' microphone. At the time, Cummings was about to launch into another of his patented "these proceedings are unconstitutional" rants, and Issa shut him down with extreme prejudice. Now, we may have a better understanding of just why Cummings is so set against getting to the bottom of the IRS scandal. ...It seems he may be directly involved in it.

Al-Qaeda’s Odyssey to the Global Jihad

2013 marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of al-Qaeda and twelve years since the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in the United States. Despite the global counterterror campaign conducted against al-Qaeda, the organization and its affiliates are still responsible for the vast majority of terror attacks in the world, which kill and wound thousands of people every year. In addition to their involvement in terrorist attacks, al-Qaeda and its affiliates exert much influence in the international system, far more than their numbers and military power suggest. This memorandum explains how one terrorist organization, which at the height of its activity numbered a few hundred operatives, established a worldwide, highly influential phenomenon called the “global jihad movement” and succeeded, more than any other terrorist organization in modern history, in harming, harassing, and exhausting a hegemonic superpower and its allies and entangling them in bloody and costly military campaigns around the world.

Affirmative Action, Sensitivity Training, and White Privilege Workshops

In the 1930s, in an attempt to attract larger theater audiences, Hollywood moguls instructed screen writers to 'dumb down' plots and dialogue so that movies could be more easily understood by the masses. Eventually the expression 'dumbing down' made its way into the vernacular. It describes a technique to expedite “leveling”, the word that depicts establishment efforts to coerce equality of outcomes. Over the years, elites have tried to surreptitiously 'dumb down' society in order to achieve equality. This is a lofty goal but also an unrealistic one.
