NEPAL: Christian Killed While Praying for His Attacker

Sources: Voice of the Martyrs USA, Gospel for Asia An elder of the Believers Church in Nepal was tragically killed in the early morning hours of October 20th while praying for someone who was supposedly quite ill. At 3 a.m., 36-year-old Debalal was called to the home of Kumar Sardar who urgently requested prayer, stating that he was experiencing pain. At first, Debalal was reluctant to visit the man's home due to the late hour and also because Kumar and his family were known to be devout Hindus.

Obama approval down to 42 percent; let us count the reasons

I've been talking all week about a quote from Thomas Jefferson, who said the good sense of the people will always be found to be the best army. They may be led astray for a moment, but will soon correct themselves.

There's Nothing New About a Deeply Divided Nation

The polls and the pundits tell us that the people of the United States of America are deeply divided politically and they’re right. A bit of history helps to understand this.

Your Opportunity is Being Transitioned

Some things you might have missed

Obama, NSA Spying and the Dangers of Secretive, Authoritarian Government

“The perception here is of a United States where security has trumped liberty, intelligence agencies run amok (vacuuming up data of friend and foe alike), and the once-admired “checks and balances” built into American governance and studied by European schoolchildren have become, at best, secret reviews of secret activities where opposing arguments get no hearing.” – New York Times columnist Roger Cohen Recent reports indicating that President Obama was aware of and personally approved an NSA program that involved spying on the personal communications of various international leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, have once again highlighted the deception and intransigence of the Obama administration in dealing with the revelations that the National Security Agency has been acting outside the bounds of the law, sucking up electronic communications the world over.

Jarrett on Obama and Obama on Amnesty

“I think Barack knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is. . . . He knows how perceptive he is. He knows what a good reader of people he is. And he knows that he has the ability — the extraordinary, uncanny ability — to take a thousand different perspectives, digest them and make sense out of them, and I think that he has never really been challenged intellectually. . . . So what I sensed in him was not just a restless spirit but somebody with such extraordinary talents that had to be really taxed in order for him to be happy. . . . He’s been bored to death his whole life. He’s just too talented to do what ordinary people do.” -- Valerie Jarrett

Those Were the Good Old Days

In days gone by, whenever we looked at the incredibly dysfunctional political center of America, Washington, D.C., the most common question that came to mind was “What the hell were they thinking?!” I, for one, am very glad those days are past us now.

Joan of Arc redux

Be careful what you ask for: you might get it. This sage advice offered by every parent ever listened to the angst dramatically rendered by their teenagers for some ridiculously trivial slight has existed for millennia. It ranks near the pinnacle of trite aphorisms and clichés.

Toronto's beleaguered Mayor

As we all know, the media do a far better job of comforting the afflicted and, especially, afflicting the comfortable than the churches do.
